Default Dynasty League - Window to win help

    Hi there,

Hockey poolie trying out a baseball dynasty. Currently in year 2 and just finished second draft.

With hockey I have a good sense for when prospects will be impact players (4 year breakout). However with baseball I'm fairly lost.

With my current roster (prospect heavy), can you please tell me how far out my window to win is? Looking to determine the types of players I should target and if I should be looking to trade HanRam or Kemp if my window is to far out there.

Have Tavares, Buxton, Sano (TJ), Polanco, Jackie Bradley Jr to add to my lineup in the next year or 2. My starting SP should be Harvey, Gio, Medlen, Bradley, Gee/Skaggs next year.

Below is the full list of my team for background. Scoring is pretty convoluted but is points based (not roto). Any help is appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Blueman

You probably need more, to compete now.
But i wouldn't trade anyone, unless you got full value back.
If you can't compete, i would unload your 2 closers, for some young talent.
You have some great high end prospects. Do not deal any of them.

You are a few years from competing. Mike trout type break outs are very rare, so most of your prospects are prob 4 years from their breakout. I would recommend moving kemp and Ramirez (and I am a dodgers fan!) for high end prospects and hitters in their early 20's if possible. Wait to move kemp till he is healthy and playing well though

You have Sano, Buxton and Tavares who will someday be rop shelf regular major leaguers for sure! Likely the same with Archie Bradley and Tyler Skaggs...but, as noted above by 'pens fan', Mike Trout breakouts are rare to say the least.

You have some definite young potential there, but it might be the hardest thing in fantasy sports to predict when a baseball youngster will breakout - it always depends on how patient you are and how much you check up on them in the minors...but your collection of young talent is solid, try to hang on to as many as you can, but if you see a drop off/bust coming don;t be scared to move on them as required...there is always another "next big thing" to grab.

With Harvey back next year and Medlen likely too, your rotation will be solid as you noted, but you need help hitting still. Kemp is an unknown still, and your 4 bench guys are easily replaced by hot streak waiver wire pickups...

As noted before, I think you are still 2-3 years away from being truly competitive as Buxton, Tavares and Sano won't likely be full mite and full tilt in the bigs until 2015...
