Default [TRADE] McNabb, two 2nd round picks for Fasching

Not a blockbuster, but this one confuses me. I like Fasching well enough. He has an interesting story and is a big body, but I don't see how he is worth a prospect and two 2nd round picks. Buffalo was doing a great job of accumulating assets and shouldn't be giving them away like this.

Anyone have any insight on this deal?

I think another prospect is going to BUF as well. Not sure who though.

It would need to be a good one for two 2nds.

Nicolas Deslauriers is the other prospect.

Not necessarily. Faschings got some nice upside, McNabb is closer to ready now so it gives the Kings some blueline depth.

I am with Fast Tony here. I understand the players involved but 2 second rounders could land a team a pretty good player who is in the NHL. Seems like an overpay for prospects.

Honestly this one surprised me. All reports I heard were McNabb and Pysyk were golden boys owning the Amerks etc etc...

I get the why. Sabres beef up on the wing which is certainly needed. Just seemed like an odd package overall.

He's ready to rock now. Not your typical prospect.

That's my issue with the deal. I understand the prospect swap, but for Buffalo to include two 2nd round picks is a bit odd. Buffalo must really like Fasching.

What I really think happened here is that LA and Buffalo were probably talking quite a bit about Moulson, perhaps Vanek before he was traded, and probably even Ehrhoff, and in the end couldn't agree on a major trade so they decided to make this smaller deal involving the peripherals from the larger deal they were discussing.

Not questioning whether Fasching is a good prospect or not ... just making mention that LAK basically got a better return for him than the Isles did for Tomas Vanek. Seems a bit off, eh?

Oh gawd... I don't get that at all. Thought it was the other way around. Watching Fasching come and blow us all away.

The two 2nd rounders does seem excessive. Good thing Buffalo has a zillion picks.
