What are the odds Callahan plays with Stammer? I'm thinking slim. Both are shooters/scorers. I say playmaking Purcell moves to the Stamkos line and Callahan plays with Filppula. Palat and Killorn round out the top 6.

I think it has always been a business; even when it first began. However, since the early 2000's the money part of the NHL drastically changed the daily operations.

I think they may try Kucherov with Stamkos and slot Callahan in with Filppula as well. He'll still maintain his peripheral stats, but hopefully he does get some PP time...maybe with Stammer?

Tampa is second in their division, despite losing their best player for 50+, and the team has banded together to overcome that loss. In the midst of a playoff battle where they have true potential to go deep in the playoffs their captain (who's played there for 12 seasons already) can't wait to request a trade until the offseason in 2 MONTHS. Any way you shake it, he's acting like a 12 year old and the only thing that matters to Marty is Marty's ego. Terrible captain, terrible choice for captain, and he never deserved it. He doesn't care about anything but himself.
Everything you are saying is speculation. He may or may not have requested a trade. This was probably a business decision. Shedding St Louis' salary and gaining a rental and two picks in the draft. Yes they lose a PPG. Maybe Yzerman knows championship teams and this one isn't one yet. I don't care who was upset or anything like that. I think its a good move for both sides.

Not to mention Martin is 38 and Callahan is much younger.
