So. Thought. NYR would never trade Callahan in division to a rival. Lots of reports that Tampa has no interest in signing Callahan this summer. Pens still need a winger for Crosby, and Callahan is of the Kesler mold. Think they might kick tires? Overly-wishful thinking?

That would be quite the turn. I don't think the Lightning want to throw in the towel just yet. They probably don't want to talk extension with Callahan now but maybe after the playoffs. Callahan was always the most ideal fit to replace Dupuis though.

What this Dubnyk news indicates is that Carey Price is nowhere near returning. Think about it - if he's back in three or four games, do they make this move? Nope. Think five games or more for Price on the sidelines. And frankly, Im thinking 10+

so what does that mean to Budaj?

I think this can be a win-win deal. Addition by subtraction for the Jackets. They don't need Gaborik, they are building a different team.
