I kept Barrie instead of Bjugstad as a prospect to strengthen your defense but went back and forth about it.

Hey Derek, as Seeds of Grapes just listed, I feel your keepers are pretty set. I had 2 picks that kinda differed from his choices:

    1) I would take Vanek over Simmonds depending where he ends up and at what cost (since this is a cap league). If his salary is beyond his current one and he ends up in Calgary or something, then Simmonds would be my final forward keeper instead.

    2) Can you keep Barrie as a 4th D? That would allow you to add an extra prospect instead (Gallagher IMO).

See below for the full keepers; good luck man!

    Forwards:
    Stamkos, Steven
    Perry, Corey
    Toews, Jonathan
    Lucic, Milan
    Skinner, Jeff
Simmonds, Wayne (or Vanek if he signs at a rebate... can you wait until the offseason?)
    Staal, Eric

    Dmen:
    Phaneuf, Dion
    Brodie, TJ
    Regehr, Robyn (switch with Barrie??)
    Faulk, Justin

    Goalies:
    Hiller, Jonas
    Khudobin, Anton

    Prospects:
    Kreider, Chris
    Smith, Reilly
    Bjugstad, Nick
Gallagher, Brendan (switch with Barrie if he can't be kept as 4th D)
Keeper league 14 teams (H2H, 20 active players keep 16 NHLers, 16 minors)
    Scoring Cats: G-A-PTS-PPG-PPA-(+/-)-HITS-BLK-SHP-SOG-FOW-GWG / W-L-SVS-SV%-GAA-SO

C- Crosby, Barzal, Bennett, Schmaltz, Novak
W- Forsberg, Batherson, Nichuskin, Tuch, Konecny, Maccelli, Sharangovich, Bertuzzi, Kaliyev, Neighbours, Reichel
    D- Carlson, Rielly, Klingberg
    G- Hellebuyck, Demko, Merzlikins, Vejmelka

    Minors:
F: Fantilli, Cooley, Bourgault, Perreault, Cowan, Ohgren, N. Foote, Goyette, Iskhakov, Denisenko, Tracey
    D: Simashev, Willander, Lambos

    Hey Buddy,

I was struggling with Vanek. I chose Simmonds because (a) this is multicat, and (b) I have no idea where Vanek ends up. Also (c), I just don't like owning him (even though I do). To me, it was a call. Vanek is probably the right choice

Hehe, it really depends on the ''where'' and ''for what amount'' with Vanek. Simmonds is the ''safer pick'' and not a bad one either. Who knows, maybe Killorn would be the right call here down the road (if MSL leaves, Killorn may get top line duties).

You would keep Barrie over Stone? Barrie has the higher offensive uside but Stone is a multi cat guy as he adds a lot more hits and blocks and add more PIMs.

Our Expansion draft is right after our season is over so I will not know where Vanek signs in the off season. I would be guessing/hoping that his contract will not be that high. Is no one scared of E Staal's $9.25 salary?

Stone has multi-cat abilities, but I do not feel that they will be significant enough to warrant his selection over Barrie. MAYBE over Brodie, but I still prefer TJ to Stone.

Yes, that is a monster salary, but had he played like E.Staal usually plays, you wouldn't be questioning it as much. Have faith, he will be back to his usual self next year.

As for Vanek, imagine him signing with the Pens for 4 years at 5 mil per year!!!
