The Simulation Hockey League is not like your typical fantasy hockey league. Instead of being a GM, you are in charge of your own player. You have the ability to build him however you want. Whether you want to be a hard-hitting defenseman or a goal-scoring winger, the choice is completely up to you. You have complete control of your players attributes and can build your player however you’d like. There are point tasks that can be completed throughout the season which earn you points to add to your player’s attributes, but you can also buy training with (virtual) money you earn through writing articles, completing play-by-plays or simply by signing a contract with a team.
All games are simulated and you do not actually have to be there for them, so how much time you want to invest into your player is totally up to you. Logging in just once or twice a week to do your players training works just as well as being here every day, chatting with people around the boards and doing every point task there is. Obviously being around more will allow you to improve your player faster, but if you are patient and improve the right attributes you can also build a great player if you don't have as much time for the league. Also, other than the leagues where you control a team as a GM, we absolutely don't mind if you create a player but then after a few days realize that this league isn't for you and decide to quit again. You don't have responsibility for a team, just for your own player, so nobody will be mad if you give the league a try and then move on. Not logging in for a few months but then coming back? Also not a problem, your player doesn't get deleted unless you want him to, so you can always return even after a lengthy period of inactivity.
The SHL is currently entering its 17th season and we are looking for new members to join. The SMJHL Draft, where all new members are entered into, is tomorrow so it would be the perfect time for any new members to join as you would not miss a beat and be on par with your fellow draftees. The SMJHL is our junior league where new draftees have a season to make a name for themselves and you will be playing with and against other players controlled by real people and will also have a GM who makes the lineup, can do trades and should always be there to answer your questions. After your first season in the SMJHL you will then be entered into the SHL draft and join the big league, now your career and your way into the SHL Hall of Fame really begins...
It may seem like a lot to grasp at first, but the community is extremely friendly and everybody is there to help. Commissioners for both the SHL and SMJHL are always available, as well as the Rookie Mentor Committee, which I am a part of. Our purpose is to help new members have a smooth transition into the league and make them understand and have an easy time getting accustomed to how the league works.

The draft just passed, but we're always looking for new, active members to join! You won't miss a beat in the new season as it hasn't started and can sign a deal with a Junior team before preseason. I know the OP is long, but it's worth the read!
