Perry vs Giroux
Upcoming draft in a roto league with 10 teams. I am picking near the end of the first round.
This is a standard category (G, A, PIM, +/-, PPP) league. Although Perry is ranked low in yahoo, I've always loved the PIM he brings to the table.
Would you take Perry or Giroux in the first round? Second round I will most likely take a goalie.
I feel like Giroux has more point and PPP upside, but Philly scares me a bit this year.
Too many offensive cats to take Perry before Giroux. No matter what Philly does, Giroux will get his pound of flesh.
In a 10 league I would not be in a hurry to take a goalie in the second round. Not sure what your goalie cats are but if they are W, GAA, SV% and SHO - you have time to cherry pick. In a snake draft, I wonder if Perry doesn't fall to you in the 2nd round - doubt Giroux would.

I'll go the other way and say Perry. Perry should take goals and pims by a wide margin. The Flyers are a big question mark this year and a performance like last season will seriously hamper giroux's +\-. ppp could go either way but if giroux does beat Perry there I doubt it be by anything astronomical. Both players can be prone to slumps (see beginning of last season) so I don't see either one being more reliable than the other.
in a points league Id be tempted to take giroux but with this multi-cat setup Perry offers the rare chance to grab a high scorer who can rack up pims.

I vote for Giroux here as well. I really think the PPP are the deciding factor for me. Giroux will have more points, Perry more PIMS, and together they roughly cancel out. I see +/- being similar but expect a pretty substntial advantage for Giroux in PPP.
In a 10 teamer, I would also steer toward Giroux R1 and Perry R2 over a goalie. If Lundqvist or Rask were there in R2, I'd take them over Perry, but nobody else.
As Shoeless said "Too many offensive cats to take Perry before Giroux."
