Default Keeper Forward: Lupul vs Clarkson

Question here. In a keeper league, need to choose between either Lupul or Clarkson. Categories are:

    PIM

    Which one?

    This is easy to me.

The 50 games Lupol plays will be massively better than the 80 clarkson plays. Then on top of the 50 lups' plays you get the guy you play in his spot when he's on IR. And you CRUSH watever Clarkson can do. Own Lups sir.

This isn't even remotely close. Lupul is the way way way way better keeper.

Am I the only one concerned that training camp has just started and Lupul is already missing time with back spasms?

You may have noticed my 50 games played projection for him. I think he misses 30+ easy. Still better than Clarkson.

We don't know the format. If it's head-to-head, missing 30 games is tough. And Clarkson could help a lot with the PMs.

While Lupul seems the obvious choice, I'd reserve judgement until I know the exact parameters of the league, and the composition of his team.

I'll take the other side here Al if you'd care to debate?

I think in head to head it makes no difference. Lupol plays, he gets hurt and you put another guy of the waiver wire or from your bench in his spot, then Lupol plays some more. In the weeks Lupol plays he's golden. In the weeks he's hurt you're still pulling in the stats from whatever pickup you play while he's on the IR. End of the day no matter the format and as long as you are comfortable that Lupol will play at least around 50 games i feel that he's the better choice.

Thanks all for the responses! By the way, it's an H2H league.

And for the reasons in the last couple posts there, that's why it hasn't been an easy call for me. Lupul is hands down the better player over 82 games, but I strongly doubt he has 82 games in him. And Clarkson does trump Lupul in PIM, and possibly shots on goal as well.

So the question really has to do with Lupul's health more than anything. And with him already ailing, I'm not so sure it's an easy answer.

Yes, but you are assuming there is an IR and a waiver wire. That may or may not be the case. My point is that while Lupul appears to be the obvious choice, I hate giving advice when I don't know the specific details re: league parameters, team setting, etc.

That's a really important question i hadnt even considered.

Is there an IR in your pool OP?

I agree with taking Lupol. Obviously the guy is injury prone but he is a point per game player when healthy. And if he does get hurt, you could always IR him and add a tough guy if you are in need of PIMs at that point in the season.
