Default Who Has The Better Keepers?

I've been having a good natured argument with a friend of mine over who has the better fantasy hockey keepers and we thought we'd leave the answer up to the fine folks at Dobberhockey for an impartial verdict. Here are the rules and scoring categories:

12 team limited keeper leauge: 9 protected players per team

    21 man roster: 3C 3LW 3RW 4D 2G 1UTL 5BN 2IR.

    Rotissere Scoring: G A +/- PIM PPP GWG W GGA SV% SO

Maximum 3 keepers at any position but only 1 goalie (and option of keeping one extra "prospect" at any position)

    TEAM A
    Kopitar
    Parise
    Benn
    Sharp
    Pacioretty
    Spezza
    Gaborik
    Franzen
    Rinne
    Holtby (prospect)

    TEAM B
    Ovechkin
    Hall
    Perry
    Voracek
    Skinner
    Huberdeau
    Chara
    J. Schultz
    Luongo
    Markstrom (prospect)

Team A decided not to protect any of his D in favour of a couple more skaters while Team B went for a more rounded approach keeping a couple D.

So what do you think? Who has the better keepers?
    Team 1
    C: Kuznetsov
    LW: Ovechkin, Hall, Gaudreau, Huberdeau
    RW: Perry, Voracek, Nyquist
    D: Hedman,
    G: Schneider, Hellebuyck*
Prospects: Lazar, Mantha, Bjorkstrand, Gillies, P.L. Dubois, Konency
    * Prospect Bonus

    Team 2
    C: Crosby, Malkin, Backstrom, Coyle
LW: Saad, Lucic, van Reimsdyk, Kuznetsov
    RW: Ovechkin, Connolly
D: Byfuglein, Krug, Green, Lindholm, Savard
G: Price, Varlamov, Anderson, Bernier, Pickard
Prospects: Nurse, Milano, Hellebuyck, Jarry, Gillies, Chychrun

    In your format? Team B.
Personally though, i wouldnt have kept Markstrom as your keeper. Goalies are a dime a dozen if you have a 12 team, keep 1 goalie only format. Would've kept Huberdeau.

I wouldn't gauge who has the better keepers by their position, but by the players themselves.

For example, if Team A passed up on keeping Shea Weber to keep Franzen then he's making a big mistake. If Team A's best D was Souray, then he shouldn't be keeping a D just for the sake of balancing his positions.

It is often a good idea to keep a star player in each position (if you have them). You're forced to play players at every position, so having at least one star that you can rely on is often a solid strategy (though I'm sure someone will make a totally valid argument against it).

The great thing about fantasy hockey is that each GM gets to run their team in the manner that suits them best, and if you're team is successful why change?

Team B for me as well. Much better top end talent. I like the players on Team A more for real hockey than fantasy purposes.

Team B pretty easily. Team A has a few too many injury-prone players for my liking, plus Team B has better high end talent.

Writer of the weekly Top 10 column.

12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.

    League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

Make it a landslide for Team B.

Markstrom does seem a curious pick - I'd be interested in knowing if there were any other prospect options for that team.
