Default Care to weigh in on my keepers?

Well, I pulled off the big win this year, but my celebration was dampered by Kovalchuk's decision to move home. That takes my second best player out of the equation.

Hopefully I'll be able to trade some marginal keepers to upgrade my draft position, but for now I'm interested in some thoughts on keepers.

I expect most of you will recommend keeping Rinne or Schneider, but I may not keep a goalie. We only start one, and usually less than 5 goalies are kept. We also don't count save percentage, only wins and SO. To be honest, I am leaning towards keeping most of my blue line. If Burns has D eligibility, he will be kept. I've been a huge fan of him for years, and I think if he could stay healthy he'd be a top fantasy D every year. (though not anymore, since he's going to be a forward)

We keep 12 + 3 players with less than 165 games experience. Feel free to weigh in on those as well. Be warned that some homerism will factor into my decision, so Zbad will almost certainly be one of the 3.

Details is sig below, and the bolded players are those I kept from last year. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to give me their input. Also, one last question - who do you think is the better fantasy asset, Drouin or MacKinnon?

    10-team Keeper. Everyone keeps 12 + 1 G + 3 "young keepers" (players with less than 164 NHL games played), and 1G. Points for G (2), A (2), PIM (.2), Hit (.2), Blk (.2) SHP(1), W(4), SO(8) Must dress 4C, 4LW, 4RW, 6D, 2G

C - Crosby, Backstrom, Kuznetsov, Eichel, Johansen
LW - E. Kane, Drouin, Schenn, Miller, Foligno, Zucker
RW - Wheeler, Stone, Lindholm, Oshie, Tolvanen
D - Karlsson, Carlson, Dumba, Nurse, Ceci, Pionk, Larsson, Montour
G - Murray, Quick, Koskinen, Blackwood, Georgiev

C - E. Staal, Tavares, Bergeron, Turris, Zibanejad, Granlund
LW - E. Kane, Pacioretty, Zetterberg Filpulla, Latendresse
RW - Iginla, Wheeler, Pominville, Tarasenko, Doan, Silfverberg
D - Karlsson, Phaneuf, Edler, Green, Kronwall, Pitkanen, Keith, Burns
    G - Rinne, Schneider

My 12. First off. If a good goalie will be available, then don't keep a goalie. If not, I would sub one of the D (probably Phaneuf) for Rinne/Schneider.

I would keep Granlund over Z for your <165 games played keepers, but of Granlund, Silfv, and Tank I like Gran the least. So there is Z.

Wheeler at this point is a much better fantasy asset than Iginla.

I would try and package one of Phaneuf/Kronwall/Keith with one of Iginla/Bergeron/Wheeler to upgrade your keepers if you can.

Between Mack and Drou, Drou will most likely outscore Mack next year, but as a keeper I would want Mack over Drou.

If you're sure on only about 5 being kept and you only play one then don't waste on a goalie.

    C - E. Staal, Tavares, Zibanejad
    LW - E. Kane, Pacioretty,Zetterberg
    RW -Wheeler,
    D - Karlsson,Edler, Green, Phaneuf,Keith,

    Under Tarasenko, Granlund, Silfverberg

Yes i'm breaking trend by keeping 4 under 165 and keeping Z over Bergeron but here is my thoughts.

I feel Z takes the step up to 40-50 points this year. I feel that if he's healthy Bergeron is a 60-65 point guy but he's rarely healthy for a full year so you may only sacrifice 10 points there. Its a worthy sacrifice for the age + health issue. I'd try and bundle a dman and Bergeron up for a strong RW to keep.

All in all i like your team moving forward. I think you can make a few small moves and be right in it again.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I actually rank Phaneuf a little higher...in a league that counts hits, he's gold.

I am going to try to package Iginla with a defenceman to upgrade my draft position.

I agree with Leaftodd....and being in your draft and your primary competition I would say don't keep a goalie. Also if you drop Zbad or Granlund be forewarned I would not hesitate drafting either for this year.

Enjoy your champion status this year, Cuz I'll be taking it back in 2014!
