    Default Rundblad or Wiercioch?

I am in negotiations and need to decide between Rundblad or Wiercioch in a points only keeper where Dmen get 2 points for a goal and 1 for an assist. I would like the use the player as a bench D man this year behind starters Schultz, Yandle, Sutter and Voynov. I also have Postma and Pouliot in the minors. I can also pick up another depth dman in the draft if theses guys need to stay in the minors (we can leave them in the minors indefinitely)

Wiercioch is your best bet for decent production this year of all the guys listed IMO. Rundblad has higher upside, but is more risky.

Of your guys in the minors Pouliot will need to stay there this season, but you could potentially call up Postma.

    Hope that helps.

Wiercioch will get production this season and beyond...has a decent upside himself. While Rundblad has higher upside no guarantee he sticks in the NHL or if he does, achieves his upside. I would go with Wiercioch.

Wiercioch, as well for me. Rundblad had all the hype, but hasn't achieved much at all.
I'll take a flyer on Wiercioch.

hmmm I dunno, I'd be a little wary of the Wiercioch hype right now because it's thru the roof...not that he's not a nice player to own on an up and coming team, but most of the pts he put up last year were due to Karlsson being out of the lineup. There's no way in hell he gets the same PP time (or even ice time for that matter) with Karlsson in the lineup. Don't expect him to magically score 45-50 pts this year, if he gets 30 that would be a good year for him I feel

Rundblad has much higher upside as an offensive d-man, but he's probably a few years behind Wiercioch in terms of NHL-readiness so while he might be the better investment long term, you'll hafta wait a few years

Yeah Wiercioch won't put up 45-50 pts but someone has to replace Gonchar's PP time and it's between Wiercioch and Corvo right now....so 30 pts isn't out of the question this season for sure.

Go with Wiercioch if you want to play it safe. If you can afford a hit or miss then go with Rundblad.

I agree with most here. In the short term I like Wiercioch just because he'll actually make the team this year. But I don't see him, long term, as being a top-2 guy, or a PP specialist. David Rundblad has more offensive potential, but is stuck behind so many talented D in PHO. I know he has a one-way contract now, but I still don't see how he puts up big numbers in that system, with the guys ahead of him. I also don't know if he is waiver exempt anymore; if he is not I'd be afraid he'd spend another year in the AHL.

Wiercioch for this year (and next), and then David Rundblad...for me.

If shots count as points in your league, definitely take Wiercioch. If not, still take Wiercioch.

This could be the case. However, there is a certain defensive prospect named Ceci, who if given the chance, will leap frog Wiercioch and be Karlsson's partner when the dust settles. I feel that both players have high end talent in front of them. All things considered, I'd roll the dice on Runblad b/c he has the higher upside. And if he doesn't catch on in Pho, I like his chances of catching on potentially elsewhere more than I ever will Wiercioch who's short term value may end up being short lived.

Furthermore, on name alone, you'd have a hell of a time getting Rundblad back, if you let him go, more so than you would Wiercioch, imo.

yeah man I think you're absolutely right here, his fortune depends largely on whether he gets to play with Karlsson or not. They could pair ME with Karlsson and I'd probably be able to get 20-25 pity pts. I'd probably have a positive +/- too -lol. No but seriously, I think Wiercoich is going to be a nice d-man for them either way but his fantasy value will hinge on how he is used and who his partner is. If he sticks with Karlsson he'll do very well for himself, if not you might see his career following a trajectory not unlike Hainsey for example.

Not sure if you're referring to PP or not, but Wiercioch will never be paired with Karlsson.

Saw an article somewhere today talking about the option that Rundblad might end up on the 1st PP with Yandle.

Yeah, its a stretch, but so is Wiercoch on the PP.

Why is that a stretch? Only pure offensive lefty they have.

I'm a Wiercioch fan, myself - but does anyone have insight into how Ceci's arrival in the future might impact Wiercioch's production?
