Kind of a team audit question. Sorry for the length.
Currently over cap by 3.5M. But would like to move more with Letang's contract raise next year.

Who would you look at moving. I've put some of the higher and more obvious guys to move.

    Sharp, Patrick 5.9M
    Thornton, Joe 7M
    Koivu, Mikko 6.75M
    Sedin, Daniel 6.1M
    St. Louis, Martin 5.6M
    Getzlaf, Ryan 8.25M
    Purcell, Teddy 4.5M
    Zetterberg, Henrik 6M
    Callahan, Ryan 4.25M

    Leddy Nick 2.7M
Martin, Paul 5M - was top 10 in FPts last year in our league

    Halak, Jaroslav 3.75M
    Ward, Cam 6.3M
    Lindback, Anders 1.8M
    Bobrovksy, Sergei 5.6M

Callahan was a waiver claim late in the season so he can be a clean drop to move one on Atkinson, Palmieri or Shore into his roster spot.
    Thank you

Been trying Thornton and only getting 1st or 2nd round picks for him. Not much interest in Purcell yet.

Question is would you move a guy like Getzlaf (8.2M) for a player like Benn(5.2M), Seguin(5.7M), Huberdeau(3.2M), or Yakupov(3.7M)?

Finished first twice in last few years. Looking to stay top 3.

Thoughts on this? It's the league in my sig and my only other dmen are Morrow and Dumba - no good if I face an injury. Would you be willing to move a guy like Nyquist for Gardiner, and what's your opinion in terms of their value compared. Thanks!
Huge Gardiner fan. Great skater, lots of offensive upside.

I'd keep Nyquist over him, though. I think he has more upside, even as a forward relative to a defenseman.

    3) Barrie or Brodin or Krug?
    Win now:

    1) Franson, Tlusty, Krug

    Win 2-3 yers from now:

    2) Trouba, Gallagher, Brodin

    Voracek-Huberdeau-Pominville

And who would you keep (2 players) for D: Streit-Keith-Phaneuf-Visnovsky

    Thanks!
The risk-taker in me is thinking about keeping Nyquist over Pominville... but I think you are smart to stick with your top six.

Keith for sure. Probably Streit after that.

My first question involves recently signed FA's.

I was wondering your thoughts on guys who may surprise with their new teams, more specifically guys like Dustin Penner going back to Anaheim and PM Bouchard going to NYI.

What type of impact do you see these two making with their new teams? Do you think they both surprise many and land prime real estate on their respective new teams top lines or do you see both floundering.

Any other surprises you may think of that other fantasy GM's may be asleep at the wheel on as far as guys worth jumping on before everyone else sees their fantasy value go through the roof?

Part two - what kind of projections (points wise) do you have for someone like Travis Zajac for the upcoming season? He had a bit of a stinker last year, and that was WITH Kovy.

    Thanks again.
Love Penner in ANA. He has chemistry with those guys (Getzlaf/Perry), and he was actually a decently productive player (on a per minute basis) in LA. Simply buried a bit by the depth. I could see 45-50 poitns for him in ANA.

Bouchard - health is the major issue. If healthy, he's the best bet to play there. I don't have a lot of faith in him playing more than 50-55 games, though.

Zajac - can't get any worse than last season, right? I think he will be better without Kovalchuk, personally. Kovalchuk is elite, but he isn't easy to play with. He isn't always in the right position, he holds on to the puck a lot (usually centers do this), and so on. I could see Zajac meshing nicely with a natural sniper like Ryder.

    Default Trade Offer

    Hi Jeff!

Thanks in advance for this, always nice to pick your brain on fantasy stuff...

    8-team league, points only, 12F + 6D + 2G weekly lineups.

Got offered 2nd overall (Drouin of McKinnon), Nyquist and Fowler for Yakupov and F.Forsberg.

I read in a previous post that you rank Yakupov in front of this year's draftees, but with the above package, do I trade Yakupov?

And what is the impact of Forsberg being in Nashville now? Value dropped a bit or not fantasy-wise?

    Thanks a lot,
    Pat

    Default Skinner or Schwartz?

I have been offered Skinner for Jaden Schwartz straight up, and while Skinner has more NHL experience, and is on a more offensive minded team, his concussions give me pause. I have been reading about Carolina possibly moving him to the 3rd line as a center for scoring depth. Having said that, Schwartz has a similar offensive ceiling, but plays for Hitchcock, which is offensive Siberia (no offence intended to our Russian posters).

How do you see the next 3-5 seasons playing out for these two, and who would you take in a trade. Our fantasy scoring categories are Goals, Assists, +/- and PIMS.

    Thanks as always Angus,

    Default Keeper Question

    Hi Angus,

Thanks for this -- always a big help!

I face this problem every year it seems, but... Who do I take as my 6th keeper? Kane, Parise, Neal, Karlsson, and Rinne seem like no-brainers, but after that I have a group of fringe guys that includes Chara, Pietrangelo, Niemi, and Smith.

Full roster and league stats in my signature below... Who do you keep, and why? I think I'm close to another win (I was cruising in first last year until Karlsson got injured). Oh, and I have the 4th overall pick at the draft, and should be able to get back one of those guys I don't keep.
    -----------------

LEAGUE: keeper -- 6 keepers per year, no farm; roto; 10 managers, 18-man rosters; 2 C, 2 LW, 2 RW, 4 D, 1 UTIL, 2 G, 5 Bench; limits of 99 games per skater position & 82 games per goalie position; daily roster moves; max 100 waiver wire transactions per year; scoring categories of G, A, +/-, HIT, PPP, SOG, DEF (points by d-men), W, GAA, SA%, and SV.

    ROSTER:

    C: Draisaitl* (LW), Dubois, Nelson
    LW: Svechnikov* (RW), Hagel
RW: Kucherov*, Tarasenko, Wilson, Stone, Laine, Reinhart, P. Kane (IR)
D: Fox*, Karlsson*, Chabot (IR), Faulk, Martinez
G:: Vasilevskiy*, Vanecek, Adin, Knight (IR)
