Trade for Chara

We are having an expansion draft. Guy isn't protecting Chara. I would offer Brassard and Conacher. I would have lost both them in the expansion draft probably. It would bolster his bottom players and a leave him stronger after expansion. Only issue is I would protect Chara, and have to leave O'reilly unprotected.
Bottom line is I would lose O'reilly for Chara. I'm not in a position to seriously compete for another season or two. So age is the big factor for me.

A full roster with protection deets would be extremely helpful here. Perhaps there is a better option that O'Reilly to leave unprotected? Hard to help you flush that out without all the info. Chara will contribute until he is 40, sort of like Rob Blake or Ray Bourque.

Not sure I'd be going after him right now. Boston's playing him to death and he hasn't been quite himself these days, to me anyway. I could see a down year for him.
That's a cheap price to pay for Chara.
I had him in a similar league (except also count BS) and even with low point totals this year he finished as a top 3 dmen.

Yeah thats a cheap price to pay for one of the better D in a multi-cat pool.. Unless your rebuild is 5+ years then, you may want to find a new pool hah.. I think NHL GM's can rebuild quicker then that..
I think Chara is a good pick up and will help you compete earlier then you think..
