Plus, I think PIT would need Letang at 7mil more than they'd need Eberle at 6mil.
Whitney is always injured and he is a UFA this off season anyways.. don't see the oilers trying to resign him. So that leaves a very young J. Shultz as the only real offensive defenseman.. Adding Letang would push the oilers into the playoffs immediately and really help solidify their defense.
That being said I still don't see that trade actually happening but this is a speculation thread so I'm sticking with it

In 2013-2014 I absolutely agree with you. In 2014-2015 and beyond I have my doubts.
2014-2015 Signed forwards: Crosby, Malkin, Neal, Bennett, Sutter (RFA but will no doubt be signed)
Defense: Martin, Despres
A lot will be changing for the Penguins in the next 2 years on both sides of the puck so its very difficult to see what the team need will be in 2 years.
The Penguins are going to have to keep some of their older top 6 forwards (Kunitz, Dupuis) who are very likely to command to much money or to long of a contract for players who should be declining (Dupuis still amazes me that he has gotten better) or sign free agents (again, expensive). 2 Top 6 forwards and 5 bottom 6 forwards (much easier to replace).
Pittsburgh will have a lot of defensive holes to fill/resign as well but the Penguins farm system is absolutely full of good defensemen prospects, both defensive and offensive, who could come in and help fix the teams defense in the next year or so. The Penguins really don't have any top 6 forwards coming anytime in the next few years (already considering Bennett a top 6).
Again though, this is fun speculation.. if this were to happen I would deeply regret trading Eberle in my keeper league after last year..

Yah, so Pittsburgh remains largely intact here. Basically what I've been saying in response to the knee jerk reactions
