    Default Purcell + 2014 1st for Toffoli

I have been offered Purcell + a 2014 1st rounder for Toffoli. Thoughts?

20 team H2H keeper, salary cap (no cap issues here), plus farm team.

    Thanks!

I don't know the value of picks in your league but if you have no cap issues then Purcell > Toffoli and the 1st is a bonus so I'd accept.

I'd probably do it for 1st straight up! Bonus that Purcell is better too..

How high is the pick? If it is top 5, I make the trade as soon as possible before the owner can change his mind. If it is a low 1st, I still accept. Hurry before he reconsiders.

Yes take the deal. I would rather have Purcell than Toffoli, the pick is just gravy.

I think we need more info here on the picks and the type of league (pts-only or multi-cat).

    Agreed.

But on the surface, I much prefer having Purcell than Toffoli in almost any format.

Wow. That heavily favours your side. Hopefully the trade committee puts this through for you that 1st rounder is very valuable on it's own. Plus Purcell is the way better proven player

The problem is you start adding categories and Purcell's value drops substantially and in a salary cap league even if payroll is not an issue now it could become an issue later.

I still think that the 1st round pick makes it worth it. There are other ways to get solid cats from cheap players to fill out the rest of his line up.

Not too sure what a 1st looks like in your league, but like I mentioned that alone would probably cut it for me..

My hunch is you could probably pick up a better option then Purcell or Toffoli with the 1st.

    Just assuuuuming though!

Really depends on the value of the 1st round pick. To me, Toffoli will be a better NHL'er than Purcell in no time, and will bring more to the peripheral categories than Purcell does.

It's a 7th overall pick in a 20 team league with 25 player farm rosters. Highway robbery considering the depth of the league & the farms.

Purcell at his peak will equal Toffoli at his IMO in terms of offensive production. That being said, you will have more years to benefit from Toffoli's output, but since he has yet to establish himself, I would go with the safer side which is Purcell. The 1st rounder helps you pull the trigger with more ease on this one.
