    One thing I've noticed a few GMs doing lately is signing a 5th defenseman to big money. VAN's got Bieksa, Hamhuis, Garrison, and Ballard all paid over $4m. Consider Edler is a top 4 D-man... that's too much money on defense.
    Most teams roll out their top D unit for 25min/game, their 2nd D unit for 20min/game and a 3rd D unit for 15min/game.

    With the +1 goalie situation and the expensive D... they really should have been able to buy an improvement on F and it never got done.

    PHI frustrates me like this too. Timonen/Coburn/Meszaros/L.Schenn/Grossman... why 5 high paid D? How 'bout 4 guys???

    Silly.

    A quick look around the league reveals that the teams that are still alive have 2... maybe 3 D-men paid over $4m/year.

    Tippett already stated he wouldn't talk to any team until the ownership situation in Phoenix was resolved, regardless of his contract situation. Past that, he will have lots of options beyond the Canucks. Not saying he wouldn't choose them, but he will have lots of options. It's not really a "Vancouver should hire Tippett" situation as much as a "I hope Tippett chooses Vancouver" situation for Vancouver fans (which I'm not).

    haha, the Nucks have become the poster boy for finding someone else to blame for their woes...i's not their poor play or lack of heart on the ice, it's their opponents cheating...or the refs or the coach, etc etc
