Ottawa Sun with a pic of Eller and says "First Blood Spilled" according to Duthie. Yuck......not cool.

Do I think that Gryba was targeting the head of Eller? no.

Do I think that he was planning to hurt him? No.

Does it make it a legal hit? No.

There is still a contact to the head, even if some will argue that it was not the primary point of contact. Eller was in a vulnerable position, as everybody points out that he received a suicide pass by Eller.

In that situation, the onus is on the player delivering the hit. White was suspended five games for the same type of situation.

For the game itself, great effort by both teams. DD, Ryder and Diaz in particular have to step up their game. But going into the third, with a one goal lead, it was the perfect occasion for Price to prove that he was ready to take charge... and he failed big time.

The difference is White missed the body and hit the head only. Gryba caught most of Eller's upper body.

An other difference is that White wasn't coming from the blind side. Gryba did.

You can hit players in the head in the NHL. This isn't the OHL.

No charge, no interference, no elbow, no blindside, not targeting the head = clean, huge, hit. I would hate it if that was Zibanejad or somebody lying there on the ice but I would respect the hit.

It sounds dumb but if the Habs want to win then they will have to stop shooting so much. Anderson doesn't play well with limited action. Pick your spots.

I dunno about that, I'd settle for them showing up in the 3rd period next time round

I agree... the vast majority of the shots were taking from the outside, and Anderson saw pretty much everyone of them. Settle the play down and send some net presence.

Regarding your comment about the hit, last time I will comment on it, I don't think it was a "dirty" hit. But to say that it is ok to hit players in the haed in the NHL... if you are right, the NHL is sick.

In the yearly "Fearless forecasts" thread, I wrote once that a player will die on the ice... If they are allowed to hit themselves to the head, that will indeed happen pretty soon.

But I don't want to start a debate, one that has been discussed enough in the past few years.

It was a great game to watch yesterday, and I'm looking forward to tonight's game.

    News concerning Eller.

He left the hospital this morning...

Hopefully, they injected him a dose of Pacioretty's DNA, which could lead him to play on Sunday, at the latest.

@JohnLuTSNMtl: #Habs Prust on #Sens MacLean's comments on Gryba-Eller hit: "We don't care what that bug-eyed fat walrus has to say." Fire, meet fuel.
Well, that doesn't suggest a quick reconcilliation.

Wow...that will hurt. Curious to see the line combinations for tonight... lot of options for Therrien (since he is out of options)

Bulletin board material... as if the Habs weren't in enough trouble as is.

Fun fact: that actually translates to a blessing in most scandanavian languages. 2/3rds of the Sens are probably just going to think that Prust is the nicest guy ever.
