EK has had the hype since he was a junior in Sweden, and then still when he was in the SEL.
i watched Green for a couple of years in Saskatoon, and he was never a dominant scorer there.
I'm curious to see why you guys think so!

Green's rise had partly to do with his talent, and his situation (high scoring potent Caps offense with OV, Backstrom, Semin).
Then he got nagging injuries, and Caps went to different system, and all the star players stats suffered.
With Karlsson, he drives the teams offense from the backend, like a Paul Coffey/Brian Leetch type. He literally transformed Sens from 2nd last in scoring in 2010-11 to a top 4 scoring team last year, despite only having Spezza and to a lesser extent Michalek as talented scorers.
Sens are back to bottom 3 offense this year with 109 goals, only behind Nashville (108) and Florida (109).

Semi-retired
Coach has a system in play to allow Karlsson to excel..
Have you watched him skate?
He did it on a team with a lack of scoring depth..
Green himself has said that he had to change the way he played the game because of injuries, where there is no need for Karlsson at this point..

1. Karlsson's talent, hockey sense, skills are among the elite on the planet (regardless of position). Green is good and was a rover (at his peak) but is not nearly as skilled as Karlsson.
2. Coaching staff and system allows Karlsson to do his thing, which is generate the Sens offense and run a PP.
3. Confidence - Karlsson has it in spades. He's the closest thing I've seen to a young Brian Leetch in many years.

Karl creates his own offense
Its been explained pretty well, but just watch the guy play.
Elite skater, has great puck control, great shot, great passer...and like fungchen3 said, he has a ton of confidence. He's also a very good defensive player, something Green has never been (not even close). He's very aware of what he can do and he does it with style. Maybe even a little cocky but he walks the walk. All this and he is only 21 years old.
Its will be a lot of fun watching this guy as he matures, hopefully he can stay healthy because he is just a treat to watch. His injury this year was a loss to the whole game of hockey, and I am totally amazed that he could even be skating again so soon, never mind ready for NHL action (There is no way the team would let him out there if wasn't totally healed, so he must be, but I still can't believe it, such a major injury).

I was just gonna say with PD did. Watch the kid play. He's pretty much the best player on the ice every game. Green was never that. He scored shit loads, but he was certainly not in the discussion for the best player on the ice. Mostly likely not even the best defenceman. That is why he didn't win the Norris and Karlsson did.
it's all confidence. if he loses his swagger he'll be just like Green. avoiding injuries will be key.
He doesn't drive a pink scooter
If Karlsson was manning a point for the Caps in 09-10 when Green bagged 76, Ovie 109 and Backstrom 101, he would have scored between 88-95 as a DMan.

AO and Backstrom would have scored more as well.
Karlsson: Elite level hockey sense and elite level fitness/conditioning. 'nuff said.
One of my favorite players to watch. Kid has supreme hockey sense, his skating is effortless, and he runs the Senators.
Could his production drop? Certainly, but if healthy I'd expect to see his name close to, if not top of the list.
