If you got a good team, I'd probably stick with Stamkos and not take the risk.
It's a multi-category league, which makes Ovechkin pretty valuable.
Goals, Assists, +/-, SHP, Shots, Hits.
With that said, who would you prefer for next year? It looks like I'll be able to trade away Stamkos to get Ovechkin (straight up). I'm considering it, as it seems Ovechkin is shooting more (although they will be close), and hits a ton.
I have a solid team, capable of making a championship run for the next year or two, so I'm focusing on a two-year window.
So, Ovi or Stamkos? Are you worried about Ovi's consistency?
If you got a good team, I'd probably stick with Stamkos and not take the risk.

I've been saying this over and over again. OV is still OV...he never left, he simply played in a defensive system and being the great athlete/leader he is he did whatever the coaches told him to do. Now with Oates and a more offensive flowing approach he is thriving again in fantasy hockey.
I personally would draft OV 2nd overall in ANY league format...Sid gets #1.
So yes I make this deal.

I've said this over and oever again. OV is a douchebag. Stick with Stamkos...like gainerama said, its not worth the risk wondering which douchebag will show up.

I'd probably take AO as well, they are going to be a wash on most cats, but he should have a definitive advantage in hits and a team advantage in +-.

Stamkos has been nothing but conisistent. No risk involved with him, no questions.
two months ago this wouldn't have even been a debate...you gotta go Stamkos here
I like the way Ovechkin has turned around his game, but none of the other elite 5 players in the NHL right now is as consistent as Stamkos from year to year.

Ovechkin is the better player and in your league that counts hits and +/- I don't see it as that close. Ill take Ovechkin.

(slang, idiomatic) 1. A person who habitually corrects or criticizes the language usage of others, especially in situations where it is unnecessary, e.g. an informal conversation.
Notes: This behavior is almost always found in people with very low I.Q's, whom have a very low sense of self worth. Impotence is also commonly linked to Grammar Nazi's.
Ovechkin is definitely not the better player and definitely is the older player. Stamkos has been playing with an injured shoulder which is the only reason Ovie will beat him in goals and still won't beat him in points. Ovie hits more but Stamkos is more consistent all around. Keep Stamkos. Same or higher upside/value, more consistency.
He is most definitely the better player. Is more capable of creating his own offence and has 1 year in 7 in which he didn't score over a ppg. This idea that he is somehow not consistent is blown way out of proportion. In these league settings he is thee most valuable player there is as far as I'm concerned.

Stamkos. Ovechkin is fickle while Stammer is as rock solid as it gets. No-brainer for me.

I think you're perhaps focusing too much on the pure points aspect of this.
If Ovie is at 200-245 hits and Stamkos is at 70-110, how does that factor in?
Moreover, if Ovie is at 350-425 in SOGs and Stamkos is at 275-325, how much less significant is the assumed point differential going forward (which, of course, may or may not pan out)?
Both great players obviously, and not taking anything away from Stamkos, but Ovie is an absolute beast in this particular league format.
