    Default Looking Ahead (Choosing Keepers)

I am looking to decide on my keepers before the end of this season and of course would like some input because I have some very tough choices. The league and stats are in my signature. It is a keep 5 with F, D, G as the positional requirements.

I am deciding between the following players:

    Malkin
    Backstrom (WSH)
    Parise
    Kessel
    Subban
    Lundqvist
    Giroux
    Voracek

I am usually not a big fan of keeping defensemen, but so far I have the tenative keepers as: Malkin, Giroux, Backstrom, Subban, and Lundqvist.

Any advice and opinions are much appreciated.

To me Kessel and Voracek are easy outs given the quality of the rest.

Malkin, Lundy, and Giroux are easy ins.

Then it's two of Parise, Backstrom, and Subban. I'd really want to keep Parise. I love his game. You don't count FOW, so that's a knock on Backstrom. Subban's only had this one great season, so that's a knock on Subban. You only count forwards, so that lowers Parise's value a bit. Beats me.

No offense but these 5 seem like a total no brainer to me.

None taken, and thats why I had those as my tentative keepers as well. Kessel has been great the past couple of years, and Parise is generally pretty good for multi cat leagues so I wanted to confirm that essentially Subban is worthy or replacing either of those two.

I think Malkin Giroux and Lundy are solid, solid locks..

Subban is definitely out-playing Buff this year but it's not outrageous to throw his name in the mix..

Further, Parise probably has out placed Backstrom this season.. I'm not sure how it would work out with your specific cats, but my hunch is that this would be the case..

I'll go against the grain and maybe take Parise instead of Backstrom..

    Malkin, Giroux, Parise, Subban, Lundy..

its so tough not keeping a player like Parise but I think the best move would be to go with what the majority is saying. Malkin, Giroux, Lundy, Subban, and Backstrom are the best keepers. Parise has been more consistent and he's amazing at his game, Subban is showing signs of the player he can be but it will be interesting to see what the Habs do this offseason in terms of Subban already going in to a contract year next year. Regardless of my ramblings, I support the rest.

You've got your 5 right. Subban would be an automatic keeper even without hits and blocks, so you absolutely have to keep him. The other 4 are no-brainers as well.

I can't see how they are no brainers, when Dobber's Roto Guide had Parise at 11 and Backstrom at 12.. I can see arguments made for both
