If what matters most is this year, then yes you should reject the trade.
I am in 1st, but it's close. I also have Zetterberg, Kovie, Patches and Kane as keepers at the LW position.
What matter most is that I win this year, and I think Iginla out-points Ryan from now until the end of the season. As you can tell, I am leaning towards rejecting the offer.
If you think I'm crazy, please tell me why. Thanks everyone.

I think in a win-now scenario you have to go with Iggy. He could still remain a keeper for you depending on how things play out in the off season, but in a win-now mode I trust him more than Ryan down the stretch. New team, powerful offense, he'll be full of playoff energy. He's the best option for you right now between him and Ryan.
I would reject that trade also.

its a reject in my books. i like Ryan alot, but an Iggy in PITT is too juicy to let go of.

The hardest part my friend is committing to the win. If you have the legs to stay the course and net the championship you don't look at next year. (That being said Iggy might be better for if you make a run again next year if he re-signs with the Pens)

I'm against the grain here. I think you take the offer. There is no telling at all how the guy plays even with a sure fire playmaker and Ryan is still a young stud. Looking at the last couple of seasons, they have been incredibly similar. Even in win now, is Iggy going to click right away or is it going to take 5 or 6 games? There is only one puck to go around.

1st of all; who is offering you this deal? (what position are they in the pool relative to you? )
Bobby:
Has : 24 points in 33 games, 68 shots, 5 PPP, 15 Pims +5
Iggy has:
22 points, 31 games, -7 22 pims, 100 shots, 6 PPP.
Yes Iggy will get a boost in production for the remainder of the season 14 games? (13?)
But Bobby Ryan will FINALLY be a fixture on the Top PP unit next season with Teemu gone.
I think this is as easy a trade as it gets; as along you are not trading with your Direct competitor... I pull the trigger.
Bobby for 10 years+ over Iggy for 1 season push.... Not even close; you will have a much better chance to win more in year to come doing this deal (and if you your already in 1st; your not losing production)--
Not to mention that Bysmla has said Iggy is not playing on the top line... And Neal and Morrow Malkin seem to have good chemistry already; so would Byslma do the unthinkable and put Iggy on the 3rd line??? at which point you inherit a 3rd liner....And his even strength production decreases.....
BAsed on their numbers your not losing any production (other than shots; off set by +/-)

Great keeper trade offer (getting B.Ryan)... but you gotta go for the win.
Keep Iginla.
Gotta agree with most of the above analysis. If you weren't in the top 3 or whatever, I'd take it in a heartbeat, but even though I think Ryan is way better than Iginla in a keeper, no way you can take that risk this season... Iginla's probably gonna play on Crosby's line so you are gonna see a huge increase in points likely.

I think I would take this trade. I'm a big Ryan fan and think he can be a nice piece to close out this year. Iginla has too many ?'s to me. What line will he play on? I find it hard to believe that the pens will break up the best one in hockey for Iginla. My next concern is how many mins will he get a game? In Calgary e was high teens. On Pitt, where they are stacked up front will he play less than 15?
Take the trade. I wish my deadline hadn't passed already
Good points and I'm grateful for your input, but I can't imagine the Penguins acquiring Iginla and placing him on the third line. Even if Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis stays together, Iginla has to bump Morrow. It won't be long before he's on with Crosby, and until then, he'll play with Malkin and Neal.
We're talking about Jarome Iginla here.

I'd make the trade. You don't get too many opportunities to acquire a young stud for an ageing and declining star. PIT has Crosby, Malkin, Neal, Kunitz and to a lesser degree Dupius, to get lots of points down the stretch. I don't see Iginla getting that many more (if any) points than Ryan for the rest of the year. This is an opportunity that won't come around very often. I'd definitely do it.

I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.
i have done some thinking about this one, and its close. so close that i think you would be ok by taking the Ryan. thier points might be close enough to justify the long term benefits that come with him. you may need to upgrade one of your others to make up the difference (5 points IMO) that Iggy will likey have over Ryan for the rest of the year.
if you think the difference btwn 1st and second will be 5 points or less (or would it be more than??), then keep Iggy, if not...make the trade.
