I'm assuming that the deal will be made official after the Bruins Habs game. News like this might be a distraction in what is a very important game.

Sounds like Boston might be getting ready to announce it. I'm sure Calgary will take their time with this and do it as tender as possible.

Pretty much a 2nd round pick, an okay Russian prospect, and some random D-man prospect. Pretty meh return if that's the case.

I don't know how the Bruins are getting away with not giving up Caron or Spooner in this deal.. That rumored deal can't be what the Flames want in return for their star player..

Yeah, they have to get a blue chip in return. As an Oiler fan though, I hope the deal goes through as listed.

it seems to be....everything i have read says the deal ends with that return. i don't know too much about those "prospects" but seems like they are selling low on Iggy. is it his age?

he's a rental, he could sign with the flames again in the summer if he wants - in which case its a good deal for the flames.

As Metal says, I'm a Canucks fan and I hope its as listed.

Iginla is a UFA after this year. The fact they are willing to trade him for so little tells me iginla has indicated he's not likely to re-sign with them. If they don't trade him, they may get nothing at all. Feaster can decide to play hardball and wait till the trade deadline and see which GM blinks first. But that could backfire and the Flames end up with nothing.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Yeah, I think he has to play hardball though. You only get so many chances to win a Cup so if you can add a guy like Iginla especially with the Penguins loading up then you have to do it. And I don't think there's any single prospect for the Bruins who should be considered untouchable (note: I consider Hamilton no longer a prospect) so to me it's more illogical for Chiarelli to play hardball in trying to acquire Iginla and that's considering the fact that Boston is probably the only team with a real shot at getting Iggy so they are only bidding against themselves.

I think they're paying the fact that they didn't want to trade him earlier.

Flames should've traded him a couple of years ago when it was obvious they needed a rebuild and Iggy was still a force.

Still, I like Khokhlachev a lot and I think he's a nice add. And obviously the 1st round pick is great in what should be a deep class in 2013.

What about LA or Chicago? They have decent prospects that should be appealing to the Flames.

I know this has been brewing forever but it doesn't change the fact that I want to vomit.
