    Default Playoff D Question:

Went through every single day of all the playoff weeks to see how my team will do:

I am currently going with 3 D due to the forward, winger and utility spot however, week 1 has 6 lost matchups which is a number I could significantly lower by picking up a D. In most cases Matt Martin will be on the bench on overlap nights depending on how I am doing in HITS that week, with an extra D picked up only one other player will be on the bench.

Martin, Neil and Lucic are my weakest players overall but I rely on those guys mostly for HITS/PIM/SOG (Martin was a recent pickup and will help me win those cats).

Here are my questions, would appreciate feedback (Will rep like always)!

    1. Would you prefer any of these D over my CURRENT 3 D?
    Enstrom, Green, Muzzin, Voynov, Martin,

    2. For week 1 which of these D playing 4 games would you pick up (who would you drop)?
    Corvo, Hamilton, Bouwmeester

    Thanks!

    {clap, clap}
Well done for "mapping" out your playoff weeks.
    Handy, ain't it?

See... Matt Martin is a HITS champion... he has maybe 120 hits so far (say).
But if you have to bench him, why not just pick up a 70 or 80 hit defenseman (like Ladislav Smid) that you can actually get into your line-up.

I'm really not terrificially keen on Brian Campbell.
He's basically an assist machine... not a lot of SOG or PPG... probably a bad +/- with Florida's injuries... and the Panthers have a bad schedule - one of the worst I've calculated.

To be honest, I dislike all your 3D currently.
I'd probably roster Voynov/Enstrom/HITS-MONSTER... to help.

Martin does have huge HITS value, so you may not want to send him to the wire.
But... if Martin's schedule is conflicting, consider dumping Brad Boyes... who should also have a conflicting schedule. You might be better off rostering Martin for PIM/HIT and sacrificing the limited offense that Boyes provides.

    It seriously helped so much!

All season I debated dropping Schultz and Campbell but basically gave up on +/- and kept someone who could make up for the HITS that they didnt get me (hence Matt Martin currently)! They are 5th and 6th in PPP and 1st and 5th for PPG which is really why I kept them and I fear losing those categories without them ev

Do you think this would be wise?

    Campbell, Schultz, Souray, Martin
    for
Enstrom, Voynov, Fraser*, (Stempniak, Glencross, Tanguay (CGY with non conflicting schedules)
*Fraser, Smid, Emelin, Dillon, Methot (All available HIT+ Defensemen)

Instead of the Calgary players, now that HITS are covered with Fraser would a guy like Brouwer, Setoguchi, Brunner, Stepan help possibly in PPP with the loss of Schultz and Campbell?

Fraser is a beast - good pickup.

    Edit:

Just dropped Martin for Fraser (Hits will decline a tiny bit but I have Neil and Brown) Fraser will help with +/- as well.
Just dropped Campbell for Enstrom (Enstrom has better stats per game right now than most D)

If I drop Schultz for Voynov, what do I do about PPP?
I could drop Boyes for one of Brouwer, Setoguchi, Brunner, Stepan.

Souray is garbage. Schultz gets no peripherals and only clipping in at a 0.5 PPG. Campbell has failed to register heavy points, and that's all he's good for.

Trade all 3 out for Enstrom, Voynov and someone who excels on a peripheral stat you're losing out on.

    I currently have:

    Voynov, Enstrom, Fraser
    and got rid of
    Souray, Campbell, Schultz

If this were a trade, did I win big or what?

Next week I may drop Boyes for someone who is kicking ass!

If that was a trade, Enstrom alone is worth all 3 of the D you gave up.
