Brunnstrom to Canucks?
Between periods of tonight\'s Habs-Bruins game the panel discussed Brunnstrom. Apparently 20 clubs made enquiries, of which 5 were short-listed and the Canucks are the front-runner (subject to them coming to terms). That\'s awesome news for Canucks fans, as I\'m sure he\'d look good playing with the Sedins.
Obviously the big questions are how long and how much.
In my keeper pool he\'s not taken (we have a rule that a guy whose rights aren\'t owned by a club can\'t be taken) but he will be picked up by the guy in last place as soon as he signs. I\'d like to make a trade with the guy in last place so that I can pick him up, but he\'s looking for something good in return. Salary counts in our pool (the NHL cap applies). I\'m thinking of offering him Rafalski ($6 per) or Markov ($5.75 per) for Brunnstrom and something. That said, maybe I\'m making a big mistake, given that Brunnstrom has never played an NHL game.
Anyone care to venture how much he will sign for, how long, and how many points he\'ll get next year if he\'s with the Canucks? Any feedback on my trade musings is also welcome.

I would say he gets two years, $5 million.
Nice info - I would guess the teams are VAN, TOR, DET, OTT, and BOS and prior to this info, I thought TOR and DET had the inside track with their Swedes - Toronto was even trying to sign one of his friends just to give him more incentive.

Even with salary cap implications, I wouldn\'t be trading a Rafalski or Markov (unless it\'s Daniil!) for an unproven highly hyped PROSPECT.
Yes Brunnstrom will probably do well, but he may not or it may take 2-3 years to put up usable fantasy numbers.
Keep and pay for proven STARS and try to get prospects via your draft.

Brunnstrom to Canucks?
Wait for Brunstrom to put up desent 1st year points and for your GM to sell him low. In 2-3 years he will have good fantasy stats if he adapts to the NHL. DON\'T give up Markov or Rafalski for a late blooming prospect.

I don\'t think Brunnstrom was going to Vancouver because Nonis was there. The team will will still be the same team it was when Nonis got fired to next year. The Sedin\'s will have a huge part in the signing of the young prospect still. Lidstrom and Zetterberg I am sure will have some say in this as will Sundin in Toronto, if he decides to stay.

Brunnstrom will not be coming to Vancouver and the firing of Nonis is the indirect reason. Aquilini wants to take a new direction and bring in a Canadian brand of hockey build around players like Kesler, Burrows, Mitchell and Bieksa. The Sedins are great players but when it comes to playoff hockey they can not be relied on when the hitting picks up.
Brunnstrom, while I do not know alot about him is 6\'1 200lbs and has alot of skill but adding another top 6 forward who does not fit the criteria is exactly what Aquilini was trying to stop. Look for a big push for Carter or someone like him in the offseason.

Not to mention, Steen and Stralman who are both approx. the same age and would have a say as well. I really think the Brunnstrom thing is getting blown out of proportion though. Let the guy come over and prove something before we think of him as the next \"Swedish Gretzky\" ala Nylander! That said, in my pool I have 4 of the top 8 picks, so if he is available at the 5th pick, I will take him. I just cant say that I expect 80 points out of him any time soon. SEL is not the NHL...
