This happened so fast I didnt have a chance to post this before I pulled the trigger. So now I just want to see what the nation thinks of the deal.

I traded:
RNH, Shattenkirk and my 1st round pick

for

Ovi, Carlson and his 2nd round pick probably a difference of 5-10 available players

So what are your thoughts.

You did just fine. With goals and hat tricks weighted, I think you're grabbing the bigger upside here for sure. Tough to give up Shattenkirk, but Carlson isn't a poor replacement.

If the Caps can return to any measure of respectability then you should win this deal by a bit. From a 'win-now/rebuilding' standpoint it's not entirely clear who is doing what here. The only 'rebuilding' piece is RNH, but he's not really a prospect, just a young player that's struggling a bit. So it looks like this is a good old-fashioned hockey trade! Exciting. If Ovechkin can start scoring then Carlson will start as well and everything will be fine. I'm a bit worried that Ovechkin might not ever return to his former glory, but the guy has won a ton of hardware over the last 8 years, so you can never discount him. You put your eggs in one basket, but if it pays off it could pay off big. Good luck!

Yeah with those settings I like the Ovi side a bit more. Not by a huge margin though.
G =2, GWG, SOG, OTG, PIMs are all in Ovi's favour.

Gotta say I like the Ovi side here as well. When and if he ever decides to be The Man again, you'll reap huge benefits. He'll bring along everyone else for the ride too, like Carlson, and that will be a bonus for you. As a Backstrom owner, I'd be all for that!

I'm very interested to see how getting Orlov back affects things there in DC. With Green appearing to be toast, Orlov's addition to the mix with Carlson could help those up front a great deal. We'll see.
