i am not sure i understand the question
in an 8 team league with 8 keepers per team you are asking if you should be trading for one of the top 3 players in fantasy hockey and not have to give another one of the top 3 players in fantasy hockey in return
does that about sum things up
To me it's an easy decision but it really depends on the scenario.
If you're contending this year than it doesn't make sense unless you truly feel there is a better team than yours and that you have no chance of winning.
If you're not contending than this makes perfect sense as Malkin is injured and Eberle is playing like garbage.
To say that you're only getting one keeper is a little far fetched as well as I'd strongly consider Eberle to be one of your keepers even if he's playing like utter trash.
In short:
For the rest of this year: Perry>Malkin and Staal>Eberle
Next year and beyond: Malkin>>Perry and Staal=Eberle (close anyways)

i still dont understand how 30 games makes this decision go from a no brainer to a no thanks
It doesn't. It makes it go from a 'yes', to a rational review of the trade as I'd be losing two top players, each of which have put up huge seasons in the past as well.
At a bit of a roadblock right now anyway, he doesn't want to lose the RW-eligibility of malkin so trying to figure out alternatives.
adjusting the offer to what exactly
Depending on the counter, I would easily say yes to the original deal. Unless you're in contention and this takes you out if the running somehow.

Negotiations fell through due to position problems, but in the meantime I've cooked up a new deal with another player. He said he has to "sleep on it", and with stamkos being held off the scoresheet tonight maybe that will help sway his opinion.

Love this deal for you. Too bad you missed out on Malkin.
