    Default Malkin for Rinne

I have been offered Rinne for my Malkin. When I run the deal through the trade analyzer on HPG, Rinne comes out on top by 37 points. What do you think?

With 8 categories for skaters and only 3 for goalies, I would prefer to have Malkin by a pretty big margin.
Also, in a keep 4 you should be able to draft some pretty decent goalies, but most ppg+ players will be protected.

I hold Malkin here. Your Goalies could use an upgrade but perhaps target a slumping Quick for Nash?

I was thinking of asking for Backstrom also and maybe sending Bryz.

Not desperate. Just milling over an offer. Except for wins my goaltending #'s are near the bottom. I have 2 other serviceable C's. If I can get one of the best goalies on the league for the right price why not. If the deals not right I won't do it.

    Thanks for the input

I would definitely keep Malkin. Top 3 keeper in any league format. Would take a lot more than Rinne to make the deal happen.

This question might require some deeper digging. How many goalies typically are kept each year? This being rotisserie there is much more value in having a workhorse who is consistent game after game than in H2H where you can have weaker goalies and play the matchup game.

If there isn't much in the way of goalies being kept then I wouldn't bother making a huge investment now and would wait until the early rounds every year. If there is a high value placed on goalies in terms of keepers then I'd consider this move or one like it. Kick as many tires as you can to get an elite goalie if they are hard to come by because even at a 8-to-3 advantage for skaters you still can't afford to punt your goalie categories.

One thing I am curious about is whether or not you have a games played minimum for goalies.

Goalies that were kept this past year were: Lundqvist, Rinne, Quick, Fleury, Miller, Schnieder. Goalies were flying off the board in the first round of our draft. Rask was taken the pick before mine. So I went with Weber then picked up Bryz in the second. It always seems like the teams that are in the money have the better goaltending.

It's a weekly lock roto with no minimum starts.

Well then if at all possible in the future keep that in mind and if by chance your goalie gets an opening week shutout and only plays one game don't play any other goalies and scoop the points in 2/3 categories while punting wins. It's a weird strategy and would be tough to pull off but definitely possible. Hell, you could even just get great stats in week one and punt wins but anyhow...

I'd be focused on getting a really good goalie then. A top three guy like Lundy, Rinne or Quick. Rask or Price would work for me too. I think it's more important that you have a good goalie keeper in this league than four skater keepers.

Does this mean trade Malkin for Rinne? Not necessarily but I wouldn't necessarily be against it.

I like doing trades like this. Forward goalie for forward goalie. Who else is on other teams roster?

Looks like there is a temporary agreement. My Malkin/Bryz for Backstrom/Rinne. The only way it will go through is if Malkin gets cleared soon. I could always just ride Bryz/Backstrom (G) and hope that Philly starts to play better D and Min starts scoring goals.

Malkin is a guy I have never owned on any team in any league. I would take Rinne over Malkin instantly. Especially if you get to keep Rinne. Malkin is once again hurt, & this pattern of him dominating & getiing hurt will never end. He is simply too talented to take off-season preperation seriously. Even with the bad knees. Rinnes is a lock for the next 5 years at least. You have NO idea what you'll get out of Malkin in the next 5 years, especially as the league-wide talent level continues to catch up to him. Good luck, these are tough decisions. But, with it being a shortened season, you'd be better off starting next year with Rinne than Malkin.

Dude has a concussion. No amount of off-season preparation can prevent that.
