Default My Vanek/Carter for his Iginla/Eriksson (Dal)- REP

    I was offered this:

My Vanek, Carter, 4th pick for
    His Iginla, Eriksson, 1st pick

Note: This is a limited keeper (cats in SIG), we only get to keep 4 players, so this trade, aside from the picks of course, will probably only have impact on this season going forward.

I like the pick upgrade, and since we can only keep 4 this year, I can get an extra first rounder next year as insurance in case this deal doesn't work out for me this year. Im thinking that Iginla and Vanek might be equivalent for rest of season, Vanek is already showing sign of slowing down. And Loui is a nice little upgrade over Carter. What do you guys think?

I would pass. Vanek is too hot to package for a player(s) who will 1) Do less for your team and 2) who will not be a keeper.

If you're going to trade him, it should be for a keeper upgrade. If you can't upgrade, just enjoy the ride. Just because you were offered a trade doesn't mean you have to take it.

I think it's pretty close. A 1st round pick in a keep four league has a great deal of value, and is obviously greater than a 4th round pick. I feel like Iginla and Eriksson are both better than Carter. While I can spot the positives from the trade, and while I feel it's close, I don't think it's enough.

Vanek is the best player in the deal, and I can say this without factoring in his current point pace, although it certainly doesn't hurt, and in fact only makes him harder to give up. Carter while being the weak link in the trade, isn't the weak link by a great margin, but rather by a very small one. So the combinaiton of Vanek and Carter are better, and the pick is obvioudly worse, but looking at your current team, I would think you would have a shot, and thus would want to keep the players that give you the best shot to win, and for me that would be keeping your players, and not making the trade.
