Buying low on Halak. But not veto worthy
So i do this 1yr standard yahoo scoring rotisserie pool with some guys, some arew friends others i dont know and they have a trade approval panel. i was on it last year and for me hey shitty deals happen and unless it's a blatant pool tipping rip off (Ronaldo for Malkin) deal i dont VETO.
Anyways i send an offer to a G.M. for an Injured Halak of M.Michalek & F.Nielson. Im seeing a 1st line LW with dual wing eligibilty and 30G potential and a 2nd line C who's breaking out as a PP spe******t for a goalie with an injurie history who is platooning and not getting many shots (1 of the goalie stats) but will help my Gaa and SV%.
Anyways they vetoed the deal.
Thoughts and Perspective please... Cuz honestly im not happy, not even about acquiring Halak but the fact that it wasnt even close to a landslide cleaning...
And it's a 150$ buy in!!!

VETO voting should be made public.
Pools that are mixed friends & outsiders can be very tricky for trade approval.
Especially one-year leagues.
Especially, especially with money prizes.
It doesn't seem veto-worthy... but there is always a bigger picture that only the involved GMs will understand.
Pretty tough break.
At very, very least, if trades can be voted on by all members - the votes shall be made publicly.
This is important because another person's VETO should set a precedent for others to fairly claim a VETO on a trade that person makes.
If somebody is going to VETO a trade, they need to be well aware that their own future "questionable" trades may get the VETO for very similar reasons.
I've always been a fan of no-trading in one-year leagues... for this sort of case-in-point.
My friends & family pool is 12-teams x $20 entry and it is a no-trading-pool.
The Classic (a one-year pool I set up with 20 Dobber forum members) is also a no-trading pool.
But that's just me.
You're playing with amateurs.
I wouldn't participate in that pool again next season.
I don't think that deal should be vetoed. Who are his goalies after Halak? I would seriously be thinking of not joining that league again next year.
It's a fleecing but why veto.

Ya, that is bullshit alright.
In my league we are supposed to add an explantation for the veto for it to be recognized. We are only supposed to veto deals if there is suspected collusion, yet there are always 4 or so guys who object when they think one side got the better end, which is virtually every deal. It takes the majority of the league (9 votes) to actually squash the deal, so it hasn't happened yet, but still.
Our league's pot is generated by transactions ($10 per trade or add/drop), so why on earth people would want to slow down the trading process is beyond me. I'm in favour of swinging deals all day, as it is FANTASY hockey and the fun for me is wheeling and dealing. Its this kind of garbage that truly sucks the fun out of what should be a good time.
It is maddening. Feel for ya, bro
