Default Trade Talks - REP for solid answers

I'm not going to identify which side as mine to avoid skewing judgement.

20 team Limited keeper league (keep) that will turn into a full dynasty after next years draft.

Categories: G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SHP, SOG, HTS, BKS.

    The Trade:

    Team A Sends:
    Ovechkin
    JVR
    Brendan Smith
2013 4th Round Pick (really the 11th round)

    Team B sends:
    Kopitar
    Backes
2013 6th Round Pick (really the 13th round)

    __________________________________________________ _____________
Here's the info on the two teams:

Team A Keepers before the trade:
    Ovechkin
    Tavares
    Seguin
    Pietrangelo
    Smith
    Rask
    JVR or Markstrom

Team A Keepers after the trade
    Kopitar
    Backes
    Tavares
    Seguin
    Pietrangelo
    Rask
    Markstrom

Team B Keepers before the trade
    Stamkos
    Kopitar
    Backes
    Callahan
    Karlsson
    Price
    Lindback

Team B Keepers after the trade
    Stamkos
    OV
    Callahan
    Karlsson
    Phaneuf
    Price
    Lindback

    So here's the big question:

Who wins the deal? Which side do you prefer?

Still would want the side getting Ovechkin. Even if he's past his 100 point days your league has both hits and sog so I'd still be looking at him right near the top. That's just based on the keeper part too, looking at the full trade this is hugely tilted to the team getting ao. Anyways just my opinion.

Backes is a great multi.cat stud but without FW and Hits, I prefer the AO side.

Feels like the A team sends away to much (JVR and Smith).

Team B doesnt keep JVR or Smith, so why not lower the asking price?

JVR isn't as bad as people think this season. The throw in of Brendan Smith and the higher draft pick is a bit generous. Kopitar is a great player but LA doesn't score much under the Sutter system. The Ovechkin side is more attractive to have.

I think I agree too. I read recently that AO gets the most PP time in the league. That's going to help, nevermind the 250+ hits and blocks and SOG that he's a lock for. And JVR is playing a fine game now that he's in T.O. and getting some serious time to shine. I think I would still take that side. Plus they're wingers and Backes and Kopitar are C. That's a big deal in my league anyways.

Backes has RW eligibility in this league.

Team A for me. OV is still a good player. If he can learn from Stamkos, and learn to score from different points of the ice, he'll return to form. If he was playing his best, this would be a run away. I believe B. Smith will be one of the best fantasy defencemen to own in a couple years, period. And JvR is no slouch. He could still be a 1st line player. To me, Backes is the weakest player between the teo teams moving forward. If I was Team A, he would be one reason why I wouldn't even consider the deal.

i like the trade for SideB..alot

and only because of the lopsided amount of talent coming to him. If Side A would have had a better draft choice or another decent commodity coming his way then it would have been closer.

Wow. I have to say I'm honestly surprised.

B.Smith and JVR are hardly keeper material in a keep 7 league.

I was offered that deal by the OV owner and turned it down. I really don't see that much difference in OV and Backes in this format with the way OV has been playing.

One87, I'm very surprised to hear you say that Backes is the weakest guy in that deal as it is a Pims, Hits and blocks league. Those categories make Backes an absolute stud. And by that I mean a top 10-15 player stud.

Thanks all the same guys. I appreciate the input.

See where youre coming from Artic. I just traded my Kovy for Backes in the league in sign. I have tried to get him on my team for almost 3 years. The gm with Backes was desperate for goals otherwise he would never done the trade. Backes is clearly above Kopitar with those stats.
I guess the dream of old AO just lives on

Oops! I thought I saw something about it not being HITS. Probably was doing too much when I responded. My bad. Yeah, in a HITS, Backes is a stud. You're probably looking at 100+PIMs and 200+ Hits and around 50 pts in a regular season.

Side A is a slam dunk here. Ovi and Smith are guys who can score and hit too. JVR may also be a PWF yet... Backes hits as well but his scoring is quite inconsistent and Kopitar seems to have the talent but may never put it all together.
