someone should have figured out by now they dont have a clue how to develop a player so they could have gotten something useful for the pick rather than take a player just so they can ruin him and end up having to trade him for less than they could have had to begin with

Don't blame Rolston for Ruff's incompetent handling of the kid.
shouldnt the gm have had final say over this kid staying up or not

as far as making a call where to fit him in its almost too late for that isnt it

the longer they keep him out of games the tougher it is going to be on him

his development is being pissed away while they try to figure out what is best for the team

either send him down and eat the contract year or put him in the game the longer they wait the worse this gets

Whoa whoa whoa. getting waaay ahead of ourselves here.

Hes still young. Check back in a few years and see if tghis little episode ruined or slowed down his development.

Did we really believe grigger was going to have a dominant season in the firstplace?

Perhaps he did, with the understanding that Ruff would use him. But as I said at the season's commencement, Ruff was/has been in win now mode because he knew his days were numbered were he to not make the playoffs. Consequently, Sabres start losing, he doesn't have time nor patience to allow the team to figure it out, he panics and reverts to his old tendencies.

That's Ruff. As Eric pointed out, Grigorenko is the perfect example of Ruff/Regier not being on the same page.

Yes, he's an 18yr old bust.

True. It was mishandled. Operative word being "was".

Such doom-and-gloom. He's 18 for Lord's sake (oops...no offense). The situation is being corrected. Give it a game.

i am not suggesting he is already a bust however many young players end up seriously behind the curve compared to their contemporaries when they miss playing time no matter what the reason is

maybe i am acting crazed but it pisses me off to no end to watch these teams get these players and not be able to figure out what is best for their development

its not rocket surgery they develop by playing hockey not by sitting in the stands

sure this may end up being a small set back all said and done however it is beyond irresponsible to keep dragging out making a decision about getting him into a hockey game of one sort or another

I don't disagree with any of that.

There's nothing wrong with scratching a really young player. If Grigorenko becomes nothing in 3-5 years then it's all on himself.

True to a degree. But to lucifer's point, he needs to play sometime/some place in order to do so.

He'll be fine. Seguin was scratched a ton in his rookie year. Grigorenko needs to work on the finer points of his NHL game and even if he gets back in the lineup at 10 minutes a game he'll be practicing and working with the coaches on refining his game.

Do not compare Grigorenko to Seguin!

Bugger off. They might not be the same player, but their situations are similar.

Not really when you consider that Seguin was always better surrounded and his team has a better history of developing players properly.
