Default Use my waiver for Hartnell???

League and team details are in my signature.

Hartnell was just dropped. I have the #2 waiver priority.

    1. Is he worth using my waiver priority, or do I gamble on him clearing?

    2. Who would he replace on my team, if any?

    ***EDIT***
    Update on Post #11.

Not sure how serious his injury is. But I'm sure it's the reason he was dropped. You have guys on your team that would be expendable for Hartnell, I would use waiver priority and hope the injury is nothing serious, and that if he is gone for a decent amount of time he gets IR status.

Not sure about his injury either and with this being points only league Hartnell loses a lot of value. I'd actually stand pat here. He won't make it as a keeper and in a short season you need healthy guys on the roster.

I would at least wait until the end of today.
Read what you can on the Flyers website... how long he's out for, extend of injury.

In general, broken feet & hand bones are things that heal well - so I'm not terribly concerned about this injury into the future.

But I have no clue how long he's out for.
I've broken bones in my feet/ankles twice and both had me out for 4-6 months, which could be this entire season.

As everyone else has already said no dont do it wait. First off no use wasting your #2 priority on guy who will almost certainly clear waivers due to his injury but we also dont knwo the extent of it yet, although rumblings of a broken foot have been mentioned.

Hartnell loses value in a points only and is not gonna make you cut for keeping so having him ride your IR for what likely will be the bulk of the season is crazy.

Don't bother is what I am saying

Hartnell has already suffered from a broken foot in 2007, not sure if it was the same left foot as his current injury. Jeff Carter was out 6 weeks last year after breaking the same bone in his foot for the second time.

even if it is a hairline fracture, heal times are 4-6 weeks... season is 10 weeks (12 without playoffs).

That said, don't use your waiver, he can clear...

If it isn't THAT serious, i'd add him after (not w/ waiver)... stash him on IR and pick up other talent (or your own guy again).

If you have multiple IR slots... pick up another IR player as well and stash him too you can then wait to see if they perform on return and either drop a crap player or drop the returned IR player.

From Rotoworld : Scott Hartnell is projected to miss four to eight weeks with a broken foot.
The Flyers winger broke the first metatarsal in his left foot in the third period on Tuesday when he was struck by a shot from teammate Kimmo Timonen. GM Paul Holmgren couldn't provide an exact timetable because there are still conversations that will take place with doctors to determine the best way to proceed. However, he did say, "It's probably going to be between four to eight weeks. ... Obviously it's a significant injury."

I will try it and pick Hartnell if it's 4 weeks that would be a steal.

There are reports that Hartnell is due back next week. Our league doesn't have IR so he has been available. My bottom performer has been Carter. Is Hartnell a big upgrade on Carter or just the same?
