i saw the blues were listed at 18:1 odds.
seems like a good bet to me.
the thing with odds is that they take into account public perceptions and tendancies. they are not strictly based on the actual quality of a team.
The Penguins are favorites in the East at 8:1.
Canucks favorites in West at 9:1.
What say you about the teams? Who benefits from a shortened season and who benefits from having the most Russians in game shape from the KHL? Who would you HONESTLY (not fanhood based) place your money on as the Stanley Cup Champions and why?

Im dropping some dough on NYR's and their 9-1 payout (3rd favourites by odds, top favourites by me)

If the Blues are at 18:1, they are a very good bet. They have a very solid balanced team. A great pairing in net that will not suffer from a compressed schedule, a lot of young legs on D who can move the puck very well and at least 3 scoring lines up front who also play great in their own end.
As for other teams, I like the Pens and Bruins to be solid from the get go in the East while I think teams like the Devils and the Lightning might struggle early. In the West, the Kings, with all the extra rest, should be very solid and I think the Hawks should be dangerous as well.
So fun to talk real hockey now that the lockout is over!
Won't these all heavily depend on what the schedule's look like?

This reminds me, i made a bet on the Preds winning the Cup

Some that stick out at me are Edmonton and Toronto are absolutely terrible value at 25/1, and I'm an Oilers fan. They were 2nd last last year and the question is can they make the playoffs.
Boston seems like good value at 16/1 this is a team that was a 2 seed last year and even though Thomas is gone they have Rask.
Also, if you are dead set on making a futures pick shop around the different online sportsbooks because lines can vary greatly and you might as well get top value for your money.
