Default Cap Benefit Recapture and Trading Cap Space

CBR has been included in the CBA for existing contracts in excess of 6 years remaining. Anyone hear yet if they have included the limited ability to trade cap space? I remember it being a part of the deal a while back but haven't heard anything since.

Is cap benefit restructing (CBR) included in the final CBA? I hadn't heard anything on it.

    Yup, according to Mirtle:

Can 100% confirm the new CBA will include the cap benefit recapture formula. It will apply to existing deals "in excess of six years."

Emailed Russo and he said he hasn't heard a confirmation on the cap space trading abilities but he thinks it is included in the CBA.

This is what I heard. (Source to come later)

A team will be allowed to use up to 15% of the amount of the cap spent to absorb cap hit from a player no longer on their team. There would be no rule on what portion of a contract can be absorb by a team, as long as it does not exceed the 15% rule.

For example, a team that have 50M$ spent under the cap could use 7,5M$ to absorb the cap hit of a player that it just traded. Could be 2 millions, could be the full salary, as long as it is not more than 7,5M$. It could apply to the entire length of the contract of the player traded.

Not sure I expressed myself clearly there...looking for a source.

#GAMEON #CBA #NHL Have just learned teams can trade up to 15% of their payroll, when completing a trade. Huge detail, not yet reported.

Does payroll here mean salary? Or does it mean cap hit? Or both?

    Cap...

here is an article (in French).

Not a second source, since it's an article by the same reporter than the twitter feed.

It says that this clause was requested by the GM, who were trying to make trades more easily.

Great, thanks! I was starting to think that I was wrong about it.
