    Default REP for trade opinion

A GM in my NA League (first in Signature) has offered me

    Nash, Vanek and Brendan Smith

    for my

    Giroux and Tim Erixon

Thoughts? Giroux is the best player in the deal.
I might consider it if he threw in Strome instead of Smith.

    Mick,

I would stay away from this deal. Your correct with Giroux being the best player in the deal, essentially your getting back 60 pt players and a nice prospect in Smith, but its not enough. Either keep Giroux or find a better haul if you are looking to move him.

    I'm the other gm involves

Yes Giroux is the best player in th deal, but your point is incomplete Shake.

    1) It's not a pts only league
    2) Giroux is a 600 pts guy in our league, while Nash is a500-550 pts and Vanek a 450-500 pts
    3) D are gold in our league and Smith will be top 2 in Detroit for long, while Erixon will be#3 to 5
    4) Mick have a window to win the next 3 seasons, and my team will be competitive in2-3 years. Nash and Vanek are missing pieces to help Mick win it all...
    1) 16 teams full keeper H2H. Start 9F, 4D, 1G, 2 Championships
    pts: (D : 7 pts G /5 pts A), (F : 5pts G /3 pts A), (G : 10 pts W / 5 pts SO), (D/F : 1 pt +/-, 0.5 pts PIM, 0.1 FOW, 0.2 Hits, 0.3 pts SOG, PP and SH).

Forward : Aho, Svechnikov, PLDubois, Giroux, Couture, Wheeler, Cozens, Karlsson, Vrana, Anderson,Greenway,

Defenses : Dahlin, Fox, Doughty, Toews, , Slavin, Miller

    Goalies : Oettinger, Vanecek, Bobrovsky

Prospects : Dostal, Schmid, Chinakhov, Bordeleau, Ostlund, Brindley, Gulyayev

Agreed. It's a nice return, but not great. Giroux should land you a much better return IMO. He is far and away your best forward and I wouldn't want to part with him. You are getting two 64-70 point guys here which is nice, but they aren't in the same category as Giroux. Smith will find his stride in a few years but won't help you immediately. I'll take quality over quantity here.
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.

You can spin it anyway you want, but it's still not a fair deal IMO. Perhaps one of you could share your CATS with us; little vague.

Giroux is a 600 pts guy....??....can you tell us what this means

    Wink

Definitely no, even with Strome. I assume you're in a full keeper league if you're talking Erixon. Smith, and Strome.

Keeper or no keeper, I'm not doing this trade. Giroux is too elite to go for essentially Nash and Vanek. Tell him to put something quality in the deal. Maybe if he had like a Kopitar and Nash and (Strome?, quality prospect?, etc)....or something to that effect then I'd be more likely to consider it. Giroux has only had one elite season, but he's proven enough to definitely be worth close to elite value. It I were him, I'm hoping you ask for Strome as a counter.

Nash is good for many categories, but you'd be trading now for Nash's perceived/hidden value....his stronger linemates being counted on to boost his numbers, his asking price is very high right now as many people are excited about his new linemate Richards, and maybe they should be...but really, how high will his points go?

For Vanek, there are only so many pucks to go around in Buffalo, and though Roy is gone, a great player in Hodgson is coming in for #1 minutes and Ott will steal valuable minutes as well.

To be more clear, I'd has to know more about your league.

Then again, I could be way off.

Disagree 100% with this. He should keep Giroux and use other tools to fill in the depth spots. That gives him a window to win that never closes.

League looks like the same I'm in with Mick (WHA). So it's a start 6F,4D,1G?

16 team, 6F = 96 forwards. Having an elite player like Giroux is priceless IMO.

I would totally keep Giroux. I like Smith and Nash somewhat, but I'm not a fan of Vanek.

Can't totally analyse it yet since we don't know the exact categories/values. Your signature says H2H multicat and then berni talks about point values - need some clarification. You should actually put more information on your roster/league settings in your signature to ensure we have all the relevant information. For example, starting positions, number of keepers, category/point values etc.

But on the surface I don't think it's enough to part with a top player in Giroux.

If he has missing pieces I don't think parting with a top player in Giroux is the best strategy for it. Quantity vs quality.

I agree with horrorfan. Don't buy high on the Nash hype. Fill your holes to compete with other deals.

I would say no to this deal. A guy like Giroux commands more if a return that what they are offering.

It's not a bad offer and it will give you a bit more depth. I don't think this trade would put your team over the top. If you had 1 or 2 more high end forwards and defence along with daily starts then I might do it. Might as well keep it as is until you bolster your defence a bit more.

Easy... HELL NO! Do not do this. I wouldn't even consider those three for Giroux alone. Giroux should just net you better quality - higher-end players than what is being offered. Keep it moving.
