Default Help me cut 3-4 guys from my dynasty

This is about the team in my signature. Normally we have 50 man rosters, but after the summer entry draft we go up to 53 and then we cut the rosters down to 50 again around Christmas. I haven't gotten word on how we're doing things this year with the lockout and everything, but I thought I should be prepared. I need to cut three guys, possibly a fourth depending on when Meszaros comes back.

Who would you cut on my team? Right now I'm thinking some of Nieto, Morin, Bachman, Cervenka or possibly McNabb (although his probable multicat studliness makes me hesitate).

    What do you think?

Bonus question: After those cuts, is there anyone on my team that you would drop to add Mike Sgarbossa, Tyler Johnson, Adam Clendening or Curtis McElhinney?

Stalock stays. Right now the Sharks main goalie prospect and pretty much all Sharks fans love him. He's a workhorse. Bachman doesn't look like he'll ever be more than a fine backup.

The reason I want to hang on to Chiasson is because with him and Ritchie, I should have dibs on one or both of the top six RWs in Dallas' immediate future. Chiasson isn't very well known, but do some research on him and you'll find he's got some pretty nice upside and good work ethic too. Now that I think about it Stransky would be fun to add too, just because

Considering it is a 12 team league, I'd probably drop a goalie. Which Pickard do you have? Chet or Calvin. If it's Chet, I'd drop him. If it's Chris, I'd likely drop Bachman.

I'm also fine with you dropping Nieto and Morin.

There's really a whole lot of guys I'd be excited about dropping for Mike Sgarbossa, Tyler Johnson, Adam Clendening or Curtis McElhinney.

Cuts: Morin(won't be a big scorer in NHL), Nieto(hes a ways away), Pickard(ditto for him)

If you need another cut, I'd probably cut Laich or Bolland.

I definitely would not cut McNabb, not with those league categories, he'll be great one to have on D. I can't honestly say any of those players you mentioned as possible adds would be worth owning at the expense of any of your other roster players. I must say, thats a pretty damn impressive roster for a league of your size. Good work!!

    edit:

p.s. - Chiasson has a bigger upside than Ritchie does, if you have to cut one of the two Dallas wingers, cut Ritchie.

Laich and Bolland stay because they're excellent reserve guys in my league format. Both are consistently top 50 centers and most of the league usually carries 5 centers including the bench. Yeah, they're not good enough to take a spot on my team when everyone's healthy, but they are faaaar too valuable to just drop.

I'd cut Morin, Nieto for sure.....and McNabb (or a goalie prospect...Bachman/Pickard)

Your defense is studly....I doubt McNabb will get a shot on your starting roster.

    Bachman
    Chiasson
    Nieto
    Morin

Not a fan of Bachman and while those are good prospect forwards they're simply your most expendable players. Nieto is far away from NHL and Morin's looking injury prone and haven't impressed in AHL as expected. Chiasson is good prospect too and has intriguing upside but when you have a stacked team you need to drop good prospects every once in a while.

As for picking up the players you mentioned - there's no room for any of those guys. And I'm sure McBackup was a joke, right

The McBackup thought started after reading a bunch of stuff about how he's been REALLY good in the AHL this year. I figured he might be worth a shot, but like you say, there's no room for them on my team.

About Chiasson, how would you guys rank him, Ritchie and Stransky for the future Dallas RW jobs?

The Pickard I have is Calvin and he's staying for now. I want to see how that battle between him and Aittokallio works out.

Right now it's looking like I'm gonna do Nieto, Morin, Bachman and Cervenka.

    I'd drop:
Morin - too deep in CHI, plus concussion risks
    Nieto - ?
Bachman - he will never start for you with your other goalies

    Sgarbossa - ?
McElhinney - don't need random back ups with your roster

In a 12 team league, your starting roster is good enough that these guys will never see the light of day.

My starting roster has gotten this good because I've used every single farm spot to find prospects that are as good as possible

This would be your best play IMO. McNabb is a keeper.

Lots of fringe backup goalies have lit the AHL on fire. McBackup is just one of those goalies. He's always been great at AHL level and just barely good enough to sit on bench in NHL.

I'd put Ritchie as #1, Chiasson #2 and Stransky #3. All three are good prospects with very intriguing upside. I doubt anyone of them will make impact next year but maybe the year after one of them grabs a spot in Dallas' roster. Chiasson may be ready more soon but I like Ritchie's upside more. Ritchie also should have more hype and thus more value than Chiasson who is quite unknown prospect to most people.

I would give Cervenka a chance and keep him until you'll know how he does in NHL.
