I like the first trade. I do not like Subban as a fantasy goalie but he is a good trade chip. I just think you get more value from this package.
Hey Guys,
After about 20 games, it seems I will be missing the playoffs. Timonen is one of my top def.,but he is 37. While he still has some value I would like to get something good in return. However, in this type of league it is hard to get value back for someone in the twighlight of their career no matter how good he is.
I have two GM's who need an exprienced defensman. This is what I was thinking of offering.
Team 1
Kimmo Timonen
Petr Mrazek (prospect)
For
Johnny Boychuk
Chad Larose
Malcolm Subban (prospect)
or
Trade 2
Kimmo Timonen
for
Patric Hornqvist
Raphael Diaz
What do you guys thing of these offers?

Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.
You'd be hard pressed to move a veteran in the very twilight of his career such as Timonen in either of my large roster size dynasty keeper leagues. However, from your perspective, I'd go with offer #2. In a 30 team league, a depth RW like Hornqvist who still has a bit of potential in him is a nice pickup. Diaz has a solid if unspectacular rookie season and I think he can improve on his point totals, even if its just a little.
As far as the first offer goes, while in theory, Subban should have more value than Mrazek, long-term I actually like Mrazek just as much as Subban. Both Mrazek and Subban have a very long ways to go before they'll be NHL ready, and then when they are NHL ready, they'll have to have the opportunity...to me its a lateral move at best, in the grand scheme of things.
Now if you know theres another GM in your league who is really high on Subban, or if you think you could flip him for an even better prospect/asset, then try to make the trade without giving up Mrazek. Thats what I'd do.
All your prospects are Detroit prospects. Big fan I assume.
Personally, I feel Subban and Mrazek could be about the same. I would just hold Mrazek and deal Timonen for Hornqvist and Diaz. Your league is huge with 30 teams and this gives you some depth room.
I like trade #2 for you. Timonen is nearing the end, especially in this year ends up a wash.

I was in a very similar situation, except being on the other side.
I shipped Josi for Timonen as I try and go for it, so I would suggest you target a contender with a few young D, who is OK to move one.
In my case, I already have Kulikov and Voynov, so losing Josi wasn't as tough a pill to swallow and despite his advanced age, Timonen will get MASSIVE PP time on an offensive juggernaut, so he still has value to someone who is trying to make a run this year.
I would stand pat and hope that you can get more for him once the season starts. Neither of those two deals do much for me, but I'd take door number 2. Horny toad must have decent value in a 30 team league and Diaz was absolutely on fire overseas. With Markov and Kaberle not long for this league, Diaz has a great chance of putting up numbers, if you can look past this season.
