Taking into account only the J.J. Abrams movies; where would you rank this one?

Agree with that. Just got back from seeing it too.

Lazer Team - 7/10 only because one can't rate a movie like this higher. It did exactly what it wanted. Freakin' hilarious and they melted the cheese perfectly.
Bastille Day - 6/10 issues with stupid mistakes but overall an enjoyable action experience... who doesn't love Edris Ilba and Rob Stark.
Summer Camp - 2/10 I love horror movies and this was brutal
The Blackcoat's Daughter - 6/10 I'd like to rate it higher as it was very well done in terms of horror/thrillers, but it just wasn't good enough. Quite creepy and unigue, potential to be better. Worth watching, though, for sure.
Warcraft - 8/10 Great CGI and solid story for someone like me who doesn't follow the history of Warcraft.
Neighbours 2 - 6/10 funnier than most sequels. I enjoyed it.
The Machinist - 10/10 Old movie but I love it every time I watch it. Christian Bale is a stud.
The Legend of Tarzan - 7/10 solid movie. sam jackson was good in it. Better than I expected.
Star Trek Beyond - 6/10 I rate the first two 9/10 in terms of entertainment.... this one may have let me down because I expected so much. Still really good but just not as good as the first two.

Bumping this thread... this reading material is too crucial to let it get buried! Who's seen a movie lately?

Hell or High Water: 9/10, great movie.

I liked it regardless. Well acted. 8/10. Ex Machina is on my to do list.

Just watched this movie. Completely agree that it was quite a mind blower.
Definitely recommend it (don't read anything up on it before hand). I think I need to watch it again though just to fully comprehend it. 8.5/10 on first watch.

The wife and I went to see Deepwater Horizon last night.

Solid movie. Nice to see Peter Berg doesn't hold anything back on the blame game and where it should have lied.

I've watched a few movies recently.

Deadpool: Didn't like it. Juvenile and crass, and just not for me. 1.5/5
The Accountant: More or less entertaining enough for a single viewing, but it was a convoluted mess of ideas and on-screen relationships that just didn't come together to form anything that felt solid. 2.5/5
Denial: Just okay. For a movie centred around the Holocaust, it was shockingly unemotional. I didn't feel much during the film, and didn't particularly care about any of the characters, good or bad. 2.5/5
The Revenant: Finally watched this one. Pretty solid overall. A shade less than I'd hoped for, but still a good movie that I'd rate 4/5

Saw the second Jack Reacher movie last night. It was pretty good. Not great, but good. Still can't buy Tom Cruise as Reacher though.

Also, if you have young kids, I highly recommend Storks. It was pretty entertaining, even for adults.

I went on a robbery type marathon of movies:

Now You See Me - 9.5/10 - This movie was great! Lots of twists and good story line.
Now You See Me 2 - 8.5/10 - Not as good as the first but still good!
Ocean's Eleven - 9.9/10 - One of the greatest movies all time! Absolutely love it and was inspired to watch the trilogy after watching Now to see me.
Ocean's Twelve - 6/10 - I don't know why they didn't stick to robbing Casinos, not nearly as good as 11 or 13.
Ocean's Thirteen 8/10 - Great again... love the robbing a casino again.

    Hacksaw Ridge - 9.0

I don't know if the movie was worth a 9, but that dude's exploits were worth a 10 that even Hollywood couldn't completely bungle (though it's funny that the southern hero and his wife were played by a Brit and and Aussie, respectively). Very much a 'how has this not been made into a movie before?' feel. Heck, we got 4 or 5 Rambos first...

Hollywood has been known to bungle these types of movies before. I saw one recently about some Americans who were POWs during the Vietnam war. They portrayed one guy as the hero, and another guy as someone who almost bungled the escape. It turns out, in real life, the escape plan and everything was the idea of the second guy, and he went back to help another POW who was having trouble walking. But the first guy is the one who escaped so he got the movie and the credit for the escape.

Fair enough... there was a re-appearance of the 'bullet hits flamethrower pack and it explodes' theme that Hollywood loves but is completely untrue. The movie does seriously short-change Doss's track record. He already had a handful of bravery medals before the battle shown in the film, but the movie's depiction makes it look like it was his first battle. That said, Mel Gibson freely admitted that they left stuff out because people might have a hard time believing it.

Trolls. Great movie. Kids loved it. Parents loved it. Lots of good songs.

Some great movies that I've watched recently. Not sure if anyone mentioned them or not.

    The good neighbour
    Captain Fantastic
    Room
    War Dogs

I would rate them all pretty highly. A must watch.
