I think the Marchand deal is great, but the more I think about it the more I think Pac signed a discount deal.

Yes and no. Marchand has proven himself over the last couple years, including a very, very strong post season a couple years ago. Pacioretty has a major concussion under his belt and has one breakout year. He also signed for a longer-term deal, bringing the $ amount down some. I think they're both terrific deals. If Pacioretty stays healthy and continues to produce (all indications point to that being the case), his deal will certainly look like more of a steal, though.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought Marchand has played a lot with Seguin. They have a good connection and he nose how to draw a lot of attention, opening up the ice for his linesmates. He also nose how to draw a lot of penalties by being a rather detested guy by other teams. The money does seem a bit high, but he has a lot of positives.
