    Default Tim Erixon

Originally I was suppose to pick Erixon before Despres but now that Erixon is at Columbus I may change my mind and choose Despre before because Columbus was not really good at developping young player and is way far in the depth chart...

Who will made the most impact for the next 2 years in the NHL between Simon Despre in Pittsburg or Tim Erixon in Columbus?

still Erixon imo...even with all the depth in Columbus, I think Erixon will be an NHL regular sooner than Despres (even though Despres has a higher offensive upside)

In my view Despres will be an NHL regular this year. Erixon is 50/50 in my estimation. Offensive upside is the question but frankly I don't see high upside in either of them. They'll both be steady dmen I think but offensive numbers are a different story.

ah crap, I was getting Beaulieu and Despres mixed up (both Saint John Sea Dogs)

Despres will probably be in the NHL this coming season, as vandalay mentions. Beaulieu, who I was thinking about, is a ways off yet, even though he has a higher offensive upside than Erixon.

Anyway, I'd be inclined to take Despres over Erixon, as vandalay suggests. And I also agree that neither have a particular high offensive ceiling (40-45 pts at best, and not for a while either).

Again, my apologies for the confusion.

I would go with Despres. He will play this season Erixon will have to wait god knows how long. Depres has Letang and Niskanen in front of him right now and maybe Morrow soon but he should get a year to show his stuff before he has to start worrying about Morrow. Erixon has Johnson, Wisnewski, Nikitin and Murray in front of him right now and he is also competing with Savard and Moore for a roster spot. So much competition in Columbus on defense. They should really consider moving some of these defensemen out of town before they ruin their development.
