Default an argument in favour of Bryz

I know it's all the rage to feel "meh" over Bryzgalov ... and many are hoping for a bounceback season. But there's no need to wait any longer! The bounceback has already come! Consider this...
Bryz ended the 2011-2012 season with:
    33 wins, 2.48 GAA, .909 SV%, 6 shutouts.
However, if you followed his trends after Jan. 1 his stats were as such:
    19 wins, 2.10 GAA, .921 SV%, 5 shutouts!
I'm not saying he will live up to that standard necessarily, but certainly that ought to make us think twice about writing him off. I traded Parise for Bryzgalov straight up in the middle of that 3 straight shutout streak in March and he never disappointed.
I should qualify all this by saying I am thankful I did not have him for a playoff pool ... but can you really put all the blame on him for that Philly-Pittsburgh series?
Give him a second look if you haven't already.

For starters... How can you blame someone for winning a series?

Also, I think the lack of distraction in the 2nd half paired with the addition of Grossmann helped Bryz quite a bit.

Sorry, I've been singing his praises for a while myself.

They've got lots of contenders in line behind him (errr ummmm)

May they could put Bobby Clarke in net... maybe Bernie will come back... what's Wayne Stephenson or Beezer doing these days... or Hexy!!!

Right. Until you get to the 3.46 GAA or 0.887 sv percentage he had in the playoffs. Of course, nobody cares if your goalie of choice performs well in the playoffs when the chips are down, right? It's the regular season that really matters!

And as far as BLAMING somebody for winning a series? Sorry, Bryzgalov stumbled ass-backwards into that win because his horrible goaltending was trumped by somebody else's HORRRIBLER goaltending!

Just for clarity's sake, I wasn't blaming Bryzgalov for the outcome of that series but rather, for the incredibly inflated stats that resulted from the unruly and undisciplined play of both teams ... though it was certainly the most ENTERTAINING series I've seen in a while!
