I'm starting to think that he's hiding some kind of injury. Otherwise, it's all mental and that tends to be an even worse problem. Even if his numbers get a little better, they'll still end up awful for the full season.
Anybody see the light at the end of the tunnel?
I'm completely off the bandwagon myself and here's why.
His WHIP is terrible at 1.58 and his FIP (sabermetric stat) says his ERA won't get any better than 3.98. Not to mention his velocity is way down.
What do you guys think?
"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken."
"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."

I seem to recall him having trouble with his off-speed pitches before the season started. It could very well be that he's hiding something injury related. At any rate, his next start is being watched to determine whether they're gonna skip his next turn in the rotation, so it'll be worth keeping an eye on.
Looking at his 3.98 FIP it seems that his 6.42 ERA shouldn't be nearly as high as it is. His K/9 is normal, but his BB/9 and HR/9 are both above his career norm and that seems to be what's jacking his numbers upwards.
