I don;t think he will be next year. I mean if Thomas struggles big time eearly on then Rask could take over, but remember he'll probably need an adjustment period because of his injury.

2013-14 I believe he will be the starter.

Its been asked many times, but Boston has always said that Rask will get the reigns once Thomas is out of the picture. I know Rask is good, but Thomas was still one of the better goalies in the league this year. I believe they will do just that, because they have a lethal combo that any team would love to have. Also, they likely won't get the kind of value they would want for Thomas in a trade.

Thomas is 38 though. I feel like Boston might try to move him as Tuuka is ready.

As dmv said, they likely won't be able to get what they want for him. In a summer market that includes Luongo, Kipper and a crap ton of younger goalies looking to prove themselves as a starter, there just isn't room for Thomas.

If they're going to move him (and the only way they do is if Rask steals the starting job mid season), the deadline is the smartest time. Team's will overpay much more then than they will in the offseason.

As I said, I don't think they'll get good enough value to move him. Unless they get an offer they can't refuse, he won't be dealt. He's 38, but he's in terrific shape.

I think if TT stays in BOS this season we'll see a fairly even split in starts between him and Rask if for no other reason than to get Rask more comfortable with the starter role. I think if he excels he could well steal the job

Thomas should get 50 starts, but where? The B's will entertain offers for Thomas (or Rask) or suffer the consequences.

    - the Bruins setup for breaking in a young tender is fantastic
    - Rask has already had a few very nice runs
    - they've groomed him very patiently

RASK IS DUE A NEW CONTRACT.

    - realistically, Rask shouldn't get more than about $3.0M - $4.0M (depending on contract length)
    - the KHL is a threat
    - the KHL could drive up his price
    - they've got $59.0M spent on 18 players
    - there is potential for a strike
    - Rask is frustrated and wants to play... and has said so
    - without moving Thomas, why would Rask re-sign?

Do circumstances force the Bruins hand? They're being foolish if they show too much love to Timmy T. Kind of an unfortunate situation, considering he's still elite. The writing is on the wall, though, that they should take a chance on Rask. Rask has proven he is ready for the opportunity.

I'll be surprised if they don't make a move.

It's Timmy for one more season unless he drops the ball. Simple. If Rask isn't content with that situation, he can b**ch out and ask for a trade (which would obviously be disastrous for Boston).

But you can't compare this situation to Vancouver. Thomas has 1 more year on his deal, not infinity.

Sounds like you'll have to get ahold of Luca Brasi PC 269.

I'm with the majority on this one. Rask will not be the full time starter next season but could see extra if Thomas falters.

I believe that Thomas will be the starter unless he shits the bed. He has already proven himself to be capable of being the goalie that wins the Stanley Cup. Not all goalies can do that. They have a confidence in Thomas that Rask cannot currently replace.

Thomas has the experience and will be the go to guy unless things drastically change.

I said YES because thats what I would like to see ( own him in dynasty league ). Thomas has been a distraction for the team this year so hopefully this makes him available. I'm sure someone will be interested, even if Luongi is on the market right now.
