Default Josh Harding just became a career back-up goalie

Just got pulled in his first game in relief of the injured Backstrom. 6 goals on 29 shots. Terrible!

He may get the lion's share of the starts down the stretch but it's hard to believe he has instilled any confidence for the future.

I bet there are a lot of GM's glad they didn't pull the trigger and acquire this guy.

Feel bad for him he started the season so well.

Said this in another thread, but I fully expected this to happen tonight.

I believe it was in Friedman's latest 30 thoughts, where he discussed why some teams didn't take a chance on Josh Harding, and some of the GMs he spoke to mentioned that they didn't think that Harding could thrive without a solid team system in place.

Minnesota just traded all of their shut down defensemen to get puck movers. This was a bloodbath waiting to happen.

This guy doesn't seem to get the breaks...ever...and isn't doing himself any favours now that he is getting a chance to prove others wrong. This little run may be his last chance to prove he could be a reliable starter as Minnesota is watered down and needs him to play well the next couple of weeks in order to have a chance to make the playoffs.

To be fair, the Wings at home isn't really a fair test of anyone in the league - let's see how it goes from here.

    I agree.

I think the damage is done here. Unless he turns it around and plays spectacularly down the stretch. I can't see that happening.

If he struggles for the rest of the season does he even get an offer from another team this summer?

Agreed, by no means is Harding cooked for the rest of his career or anything of the sort....but Minnesota clearly isn't where he is going to thrive IMO.

Hell, I don't expect any goalie to be able to thrive there after the moves they made.

Really? You had to make that pun?

    Kudos!

Harding has some time to show his mettle (both to Chicago and future owners), and he'll do better than this.

My Buddy Hackett. He describes a lot of past experiences, but tending goal isn't one of them.
