    Default Joey MacDonald's future.

Based on some great Dobberite advice I picked up Joey MacDonald when Howard went down. I hoped he'd help stabilize my goalies. In short he's been unreal 5 W with a .933 and 1.61 GAA. Word is that Howard was ready to go today but Babcock started MacDonald because he's played so well.

So my question is will he get a few starts down the stretch? Babcock obviously has confidence in him. I don't expect him to steal the starters job but is it unreal to think he gets 1 out of 3 starts because he's played so well and to rest Howard?

I think that's optimistic - Detroit only has 3 B2B's left and their schedule isn't particularly crowded so Howard won't be terribly overloaded. They haven't send Conklin away yet - it might be MacDonald that goes back down. I own MacDonald as well and starting to think about dumping him for a skater actually.

They just wanted give Howard an extra day to rest his finger.

Conklin is getting waived tomorrow, it seems:

Unconfirmed speculation is that #redwings will waive Conklin Monday in order to send him down. Could be reason why Howard not in today.

I'm not sure if he's worth holding onto unless Howard comes back really shaky.

I question how well MacDonald will play once his starts are less frequent. Right now he's on a roll but when Howard is back he will not play often at all.

Totally agree - I think he has been able to settle into a nice rythm, as have the Red Wings with him in net. I am not sure he will be the same guy with the occasional spot start.

Rolling the dice with him tonight. Traded a 5th round draft pick for MacDonald. With Howard going down tonight to injury (no idea how serious) I banking on his value sky rocketing. Even if Howard comes back soon, I think Detroit has to be weary of his recent brush with injuries and consider some rest for their Vezina candidate as the playoffs approach.

Atleast that's my rationale for giving up the 5th rounder.
