Is it time to finally give this guy a little respect? He's Legit.

And yet when teams come calling for goaltending help they try to undercut for him. They still go back to his Tampa days etc....

ah hello....Smith is not first solid prospect Goalie(Dallas) to take a while to develop.

People don't give him respect because of the bloodbath that was Tampa Bay's goaltending last year when they were rolling Ellis and Smith. Obviously though it just wasn't a good fit there, as I remember Smith being very highly touted when in Dallas' system and he has found his niche in Phoenix.

I give him mucho respect, but perhaps that's simply because I own him so I know how awesome he's been. Honestly though, everyone will talk about the system but if you watch the Yotes games at all you also notice he's been much better himself this year. Making a ton of key stops in moments that are crucial in the hockey game...including a couple of save of the year candidates.

As a Smith owner in several leagues I've kept a close eye on him and have a ton of respect for him. However I also know that the system in Pheonix does help in a big way and am warey going forward of the change sure to come in the offseason.

I have huge questions as to how this will affect the the team, players and fantasy stats next season.

Well there is no doubt that the system helps. Kind of like Halak this year in St.Louis. Bringing in Hitchcock was huge for Halak's season, but at the same time Halak also stepped up his game and all of the credit should not be given to Hitch.

Pretty much the same situation in Smith. He kind of fell right into a perfect situation where his goalie coach has the same stature that he does, and the coach employs a system that is strong defensively. No doubt though that Smith has stepped his game up in a big way. Like I mentioned above, making big saves at big times.
