    Default Dallas situation

Just want to know what peoples opinions are with regards to Dallas and what's happening there. Lehtonen is obviously the man but he's not what I'd call durable and will continue to get injured from time to time.

Does Bachman step up and play so well he splits or even steals the number 1 gig? Does Jack Campbell come to the for next season and surpass Bachman in the depth chart and do the same to Lehtonen?

This is all of course hearsay and conjecture but IF Lehtonen gets injured for a long period (very possible, almost likely!) what do you guys see happening?

The only thing surplanting Lehtonen is an injury. And not if but when it happens, Bachman will get loads of work. I don't see him stealing it outright, but like St. Loouis situation where the big money goalie (Lehtonen) gets a 60-40 split. Campbell I feel is years away.

I dunno about that... after seeing him last year and this year, he's a bit over the serious injuries. I dunno Justin probably knows a lot more about his training regime or what not, but he hasn't missed all that many games really...

I don't think Bachman has played well enough to run away with the number 1 gig. Unless a serious injury happens, that's probably the only way Lehtonen loses the number 1 IMO.

You might see a situation where it's 70/30 maybe 65-35 next year, but Lehtonen will still receive the majority of the starts.

Campbell hasn't done much in juniors and probably will need at least 1 if not 2 or 3 more years in the AHL to refine his game. Remember Miller spent parts of 3 seasons in the AHL before taking over the number 1 gig in Buffalo.

I'm not sure someone can ever get over an injury fully... I still feel my sprained ankle I sustained about 9 years ago from time to time.

I know these guys have the best doctors but still...

Bachmann will not steal #1 job unless kari gets hurt.

Lehtonen is the undisputed #1 goalie and Bachman and Nihlstorp will battle for the backup position.

Dont you think Bachman is the clear number 2?

Dobbers has him ranked in his top 50 as the number 39th ranked goalie. Pretty good considering all the other talent out there. It could be a 60 / 40 time share?

Nihlstorp isn't good enough to compete with Bachman for the backup gig. At least not yet.

We'll see about that. I think he has a good chance on becoming the backup next year as I find Bachman overrated around here. Bachman's a good young goalie but not nearly as great as he's said to be around here. If Nihlstorp isn't ready to compete with Bachman now, he won't ever be ready as he's already 28 years old. I think they'll put up a good fight for the backup gig at the training camp.
