Yuengling is like "cheap stuff" around these parts. I love being able to pick up a 24-pack for less than $20 US, most places less than $17-18.

I would be more than happy to bring along the beers...

Tonight I will be trying out my new Lost Abbey Inferno Ale. I hope it's as good as it sounds.

You guys know how it is. Nothing personal.

Back to the beer though, I am back in Ohio for the holidays and just had a couple Yuenglings on tap, which is definitely not something you can get in CA. I'm going to top it off with a few Great Lakes Christmas Ales now. Cheers to you all!

Not very easy to come by buddy. I guess they only brew it for about 8 weeks and each year it gets harder and harder to purchase. I hardly ever get it since I live in California as well. Here's some good reading on it if you're in Ohio during the Christmas season. Don't try showing up after Christmas though...I came a few days before New Years and they were done for the season.

I didn't know you were a fellow Californian now. Now you just reminded me that I need to try out this new California micro brew.

I'm no beer expert , have tried a few , mostly common beers.
Funny when I was young a six pack was a good drunk , now , if I'd
allow myself , I could drink a six pack a night and just get sleepy , lol.
So , I can't comment on the many different beers mentioned and have
only had a few of them.
As a proud Nova Scotian , I have to admit to being a true "Alexander Keiths" man!
It's not as good now as it was yrs. ago , mainly because it has become to popular
and mass produced , but it's still my beer of choice.
Someone mentioned "Mary" earlier , thanks for that , someday maybe I can share
a "tokin" of my appreciation for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, ha-ha, funny man. No duck frites for you!

I divvied your portion among dyz and tgraveline, and by "divvied" I mean consumed.

Now that I'm home I can put up some links to one of the local micro breweries. The best one here is Boulevard Brewing Company. I believe there are some places online that sell and ship these phenomenal beers. Check out internetwines.com and johnsgrocery.com as they are listed on Boulevard's website as online retailers of their beer. On each of the pages for Boulevard's beer they have a beer finder link that you can use as well, who knows there just might be someone close by that has it. If they do I highly suggest imbibing copious quantities.

    Anyway my favs....

    Boulevard Bully! Porter
    Boulevard Dark Truth Stout
    Boulevard Double Wide IPA
    Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat
Your beer mug isn't half-empty, your just half-way to the next refill.....

This gets my vote for best thread in this place in a long time.

Didn't have any beer last night but picked up a bottle of Ravenwood Estates Old Vine Zinfandel. Not huge on wine but damn is that stuff good.

We should have a just flat out good and drink thread. I love sampling new beers and trying new foods.

For anyone in Edmonton, culina has to be my favorite restaurant. It's amazing and affordable too.

Old Vine Zins are very nice, indeed. You like those try also Rioja (a/k/a tempranillo) and/or Malbec.

Full bodied both are, though the Rioja's tend to be more consistent from start to finish, less tannins/bite than the Malbecs.

I'll second the nomination. No beer last night either, but I just opened the first Guinness of the day.

I'm a hopeless foodie caught in a city that couldn't care less about anything other than boring chain restaurants. I've had to learn to cook new dishes that interest me, or if I want a change of pace. We have a few unique restaurants that have survived and thrived but most just go bust quick. One of the few that has thrived actually fits this thread as it's a brewery. I didn't include it since the only place to get their beer is at the source, plus a few other locations close by.

I'll give them some pub, since this place is one of the very very few good things about this city. It's called Blind Tiger Brewery & Restaurant, and if your ever unlucky enough to find yourself in Topeka Ks you'll want to search this place out. It's an oasis in the middle of a cesspool and it would be a sad day to see them close. Luckily they're still doing good business and making very tasty brews and food. Their beer makes life in this jerkwater burg bearable. Their Tiger Paw Porter is a particular favorite of yours truly.

Sorry for the rant about my hometown, but this place will do that to you. I think it's the Phelps Family Vortex of Negativity that does it. Well that and the fact that the first three digits of our zip code are 666, so those of a religious bent might argue that we truly live in hell here.

If anybody is willing to adopt a Red Wings fan.....
