Honestly, if there is no ligament or bone damage, he could play by this Friday if he wanted to. A good 10 days off with a swollen ankle is plenty of time. How could the swelling not be down after a week already?

Sorry, it was Saturday that he was reportedly unable to fit his foot into his skate.

I don't know how severely damaged his ankle is, but it appears to be a minor ankle sprain given that the injury has been labelled as a "twist" and that he was reportedly walking on it. However, the fact that he was unable to fit into his skate on Saturday is why I won't be surprised if he doesn't play on Friday.

Minor update from the Washington post

Mike Green (ankle) hasn't skated in seven days.
Green was reportedly limping on Monday and shouldn't be counted on to play Tuesday. He has three goals and six points in seven games.

Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau confirmed that Mike Green (ankle) won't play on Tuesday.
Green hasn't skated in seven days, so this shouldn't come as a surprise. "He’s improving," Boudreau said. "He’s just not going on the ice yet. Suffice it to say he probably won’t be playing tomorrow unless we have a miracle."

Capitals defenseman Mike Green returned to the ice Tuesday for the first time since suffering an ankle injury on Oct. 22.
While Green is expected to miss his third straight game against visiting Anaheim tonight, he could work his way back into the lineup Friday in Carolina. The defenseman is 3-3-6 in seven matches.

Just to hijack - did anyone notice how sick Carlson looked on the first unit last game? All he needs is the chance...

I'd be surprised if Carlson gets that top PP spot but man would I ever love for it to happen. Here's hoping that Wideman and the Hammer really start sucking it up.

According to the Washington media on twitter, Green is back on the ice for the skate today. I'm not sure if this means he is playing tonight, but he is out for the morning skate.

He's been out for the past couple skates and had to leave part way through hasn't he?

Either way, I'd love to have him back but I'm not holding my breath.

True, but apparently he made it through the skate without having to leave early.

Sweet. Let's hope for another 4 point night. I'm fair game for him to get 4 points a week and take time off with minor injuries. But again he has to play at least one game and get 4 points.
