Gonna be a long year in Col, but looking pretty solid so far. Hopin he's a solid sleeper.

I just hope he stays healthy...

I vowed up until a week before my draft to not protect him and what did I go and do? Panic set in and I protected him. I will take all he has to give before he inevitably goes down. I can feel a kari Lehtonen part 2 with this guy and that took a long time to get to a full season of hockey...

Definitely Lehtonen part 2. He is an absolutely stellar goaltender on a team with a massive (as in big) defense corps in front of him. I don't think the avs can really go above .500 this year though but I like him moving forward.

I acquired him as part of a deal that saw my lose Quick, so this is about as good a start as I could have hoped for.

Would be a lucky break if he actually lived up to his potential. Stranger things have happened.

As my league rewards wins heavily and doesn't punish losses too badly, a 30-30 year would be good enough for me. Seems likely.

That's nice to know. I saw Col as a team that were weak defensively, so glad to know he won't have to stand on his head every night.

I just couldn't bear to give up on Varly this season either...although signing in COL definitely made it easier to use a keeper slot for him.

With all the rumours over the summer of him : having "Russian Super-Secret Groin Improve Surgery" in some underground bunker in Vladivostok and/or actually working the problem muscles with a knowledgeable trainer.. I am willing to put my head in the sand and pray it comes thru for him.

Can't help but want to hang on to him, because he's such a blast to watch with his explosive saves.

On a side note - managed to get a stream of the Av's game against Boston, and was also impressed with his positioning. He seemed more comfortable on playing well out of the paint, and way more aware of when to get over and hug the posts.

I'm guessing he's adjusting better to the smaller rink over time. Seems easy to forget that he's only played about 80 serious games on the North American ice ! IMO of course.

Give em' hell for Yaroslavl, Varly !
